Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

I couldn't wait any more....

So here's how to get ICS on your RAZR now.

Get an official rom here: http://www.eternityproject.eu/topic/7-gsmcdma-official-motorola-razr-roms-thread/

And flash it with RSD lite 5.7.

I used SPDREM_U_01.6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.6_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRICSRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml.zip

I was on 65.1.40.xt910.MERetail.en.06 (2.3.6) and then used the EuropeAustralia ROM.
It updated to 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU (4.0.4.)

When the ME version is eventually released you can flash it to the correct country should you wish to.

Its as simple as
  • Fully charge the phone and make sure its on 2.3.6.
  • Install RSD lite.
  • Unzip the Rom.
  • Open the .xml rom file with RSD lite.
  • Connect phone to PC with the USB cable.
  • Switch the phone off.
  • Switch on the phone while holding volume up and down.
  • Press vol down until AP Fastboot is highlighted.
  • Press vol up to select AP Fastboot.
  • In RSD lite select start.
  • Leave the phone & PC alone to do its thing.

Mine took some time to download ICS versions of my 170+apps and install them during which time the phone was sluggish. Once this was done I power cycled and its been running perfectly ever since.

Speed, functionality, appearance and battery life have all improved.

Hi, I cant seem to find that download on the link??? where is it???

Seems like you have register there to download the files.

Edit: I see now that the text above version 4.0.4 seems to be missing. There are 2 download sections after version 2.3.5 Europe Australia - the second one should be the 4.0.4 download.

Thanks, I am registered with them. there is no version there that has a version number like 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU

There are atleast 2 Europe Austrailia 4.0.4 versions.

Which one do we use?

When you bricked your phone and it doesn't want to fastboot flash due to not charging it properly you need the factory cable to flash.
But if you charge beforehand and set everything in order before you flash then you should be good to go!

uhm ok. will charge tonight. and do this tomorrow morning.

is there a more in depth set of steps to do this? the steps above seem rather straight forward.

where could i get one in jhb?

you have to import but I made my own one. Dont worry about factory cable now. Only when you do indeed need it. Yes it is pretty straight forward.
1.Charge
2.Check all files in place etc.
3.Check correct driver installed before flashing. Test fastboot mode before you flash

All should go well let me know how it goes.

Good luck! it really works great. havent had any issues. even got an update to it on the weekend.

Havent had any noticable battery drain either.

Upgrade was successful :).

Marginal difference from previous version, I would say. For now I keep pressing the camera shortcut, because that's where the apps shortcut used to be. Also, the task manager (with auto-end feature) it not there anymore :(.

Edit:
I'm running 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU
