Just a note - you have to reinstall some apps such as the office apps again afterward. It is split into two separate parts, one is 27 MB and the other 29 MB. The servers seems overloaded, so I'm struggling to start the download.

Thanks man, do you have a link to what needs to be reinstalled and what's safe?

The size seems to differ (not sure why) - I'm currently on 168/276MB.

That's the same that I had. That update uninstalls the stock office apps - writer, presentation, spreadsheet. Once the update is done, you get a new upgrade option, Symbian Anna update 1/2 and Symbian Anna update 2/2.

I've upgraded to Anna (official on OVI). The user interface really feels faster than before. I just don't like the new default skin, the previous one looked better to me.

I prefer using OTA (smaller files ) but i guess i will update it on OVI when i get home tonight

Some FAQs for those who may are interested:

* Symbian Anna consists of 2 parts. The operating system & applications, and it's crucial that you install both. So, what happens if I skip the application updates (i.e. have only downloaded the operating system update)?
Application updates are classified as either mandatory (Symbian Anna 1/2) or optional (Symbian Anna 2/2, Angry birds for C7, Ovi Store and Social). If the mandatory application updates are not done, the user experience will not be optimal, for example:
- email attachments can’t be read as Quickoffice/Adobe won’t function
- user might see mixed old & new icons in the menu or Homescreen
- no further application updates can be done unless the mandatory Symbian Anna package is installed

* Q: “No update available” – A: We’ve released Symbian Anna in more than 30 countries this morning which will enable over 60% of our existing Symbian3 customers to update to Symbian Anna. For a full list of countries where the update is available now, please check our detailed information in the Nokia Discussions Forum via: /t5/Software-Updates/Symbian-Anna-We-are-live-Downloads-start-today/td-p/1114859 (=first page of thi... you would expect, we got a lot of update requests and therefore some users might get an information “server not available / no update available”. If so, please try to download the update again a bit later.

* Q: “I’ve downloaded Symbian Anna & lost Quickoffice and Adobe pdf reader” – A: It’s crucial that you not only download the operating system but also the Symbian Anna application packages. They are available via Ovi Suite update or over the air (depending on country & operator) as well. The package called “Symbian Anna 1/2” contains the Quickoffice and pdf reader, and “Symbian Anna 2/2” contains other important service updates, so we recommend to update everything you see in Ovi Suite or the Software Update client.

* Q: “The splitscreen Qwerty is not visible when using Swype” – A: You have to enable the Qwerty keyboard by opening the message view, select the Options button (that looks like a list) and select Qwerty keyboard. If you are using Swype it might be that this is blocking the Qwerty, please then try to disable Swype and check if that solves your problem.

* Q: “After the update I get a message ‘phone feature not supported’” – A: Please install the Symbian Anna application packages as that will solve the issue.

* Q: “How should I update if I’m in an area with weak network coverage?” – A: We recommend to do the Symbian Anna update via OviSuite or via WiFi because of the update size (>80MB for over the air updates) and corresponding download times in a weak network area.

* Ovisuite connection problems: As mentioned before, our servers have been receiving a lot of update requests today, so please try to update either a bit later or use WiFi and the Software Update client on your phone (or NSU, like some users already suggested). Please note that as mentioned in my post on the first page: OTA updates are NOT available for Germany & UK. For those two countries you have to use your PC to update.

* The server load also affected the download of the application packages. For everybody who only got a partial update or nothing yet (and has problems with Quickoffice and pdf reader), please use OviSuite or the Software Update client (via WiFi) to check again. If you use the phone to check for updates and have done that within a 24h window before already, the phone only checks the cache (to avoid datadownload costs for users). If you move the date forward, it automatically clears the cache and you'll see the updates again.

You don't need to do a Dead Flash.

I see the Java is a newer version. Now 2.3. Could very well be Beta with the rest of the OS.

I'm guessing you would because you need to do a 'dead phone flash' Maybe you keep the apps etc, if you backup and restore?

Java problem is probably because its an early beta. would wait till a newer version for those kind of issues to be sorted out

I also don't like how messaging takes you 2 a whole list of sent/received messages and then i have to option/view folders to see inbox/outbox/sent/wat wat.. i hope its just a bug that will be worked out and not gonna be in the final release.. Anna is so way behind Belle.. My N8 really feels like some new ***** now

Like the conversation, and the other things are all gone.. Just like the good old days.. one inbox FOR everything.. but ok.. doesn't matter.. I can live with it since all the other functions makes up for it

angry birds will work. In the youtube belle preview a the guy had a whole lot of sis applications on the phone.

Yip YIp, confirmed.. Angry birds work, but the thing is.. it's rather slow

lags a bit.. sometimes gets annoying..

Has anyone update via OTA or Ovi Suite yet? I'm getting an error: "Could not connect to the service" :-(

Yeah, I also had that error, but after like twice of exiting and entering the short cut, it worked..

I think it was more like the internet connection was F-up.. so yeah..

Ovi Store and all the normal n8 apps are there. There is a fix for the Java issue but Opera Mini and mobile does not work. Before it starts it dies with an error.
I'm loving Belle. It feels like I got a new phone yesterday. The UI is similair to HTC's Sense. Battery life is down.
I don't use a lot of Apps but so far every app I installed except for Opera worked fine.

(My version is 111.010.0606.13.1)

You can try this CFW : http://forum.dailymobile.se/index.php?topic=52553.135 There is scope for adding languages. This CFW removed the other languages. Only got English but as many requests came in there are a couple of links for adding other languages.

VI just installed the leaked rom and I have noticed a few issues that I think we should keep a list of for people considering flashing:

I will update this thread as people respond with more issues - please include your phone model and variant

Next to each issue are 3 numbers as followings: (Number of people confirmed issue / Number of people denied issue)
1 - Battery life will be severely less - it does not seem to put the device to standby properly when locked (1/1)
2 - Touch screen does not seem to initialize on reboot sometimes and you will need to keep switching on and off the device until you can use it - can't enter unlock code(s) at startup (3/1
3- You can delete a homescreen, but it may come back (1/1)
4 - Haptic Feedback does not function, though vibrate works for notifications (3/0)
5 - Holding the home button may not work in fullscreen applications, eg in fullscreen games with no exit button, you can't kill them or exit them (1/1)
6 - Opera Mobile Not Working (Feature Home Screen Not Supprted) (2/0)
7 - Opera Mini Not Working (Feature Home Screen Not Supprted) (2/0)

Please report if you've had an issue already listed or not as well so that we can have a complete list!
