Official NOKIA N8 thread

Anyone else using swype on their N8?
I tried it out a while ago and was terrible, didn't work with Anna properly, but this week tried the beta (version 2) at Nokia beta labs, and after a day or 2 of getting used to it it really works like a dream.

2.1 Works perfectly on mine running Belle! I believe it's almost/pretty much the Final version from what they write about it in Betalabs...

Yeah, I also got that version..

Now you can Skype even on the vertical qwerty :D :D :D which is AWESOME :D :D :D

Rocking the Jin Hao V1 theme effects atm, super cool, very similar to stock Zeon 2.1 but with a little more complexity in certain scenarios.

how can i make myN8 support mp4 video playback,i guese N8 is the only highend smartphone unable to play this format

what can i do to remedy this, can the encoding be faulty from different mobiles and internet?

Could be cant tell if we dont have the files
If you have nokia Suite installed on you PC, try copying the files to you phone from your PC, it will ask you if you want to copy as is or convert to a compatible format.

is there a way to mute smses from certain contacts? Especially bank notifications. I dont want my phone to ring everytime there is a transaction

Got a 276MB update on Saturday. It isn't Belle. It's Symbian Anna Software Version 025.007. Anyone else got this?

I have been wondering about this as well. Nokia had a "landmarks" application in older versions of symbian which could edit your favorites etc, incl entering manual GPS coordinates. Landmarks doesn't exist any more, but supposedly there is still a way to enter coordinates in the maps app directly (i haven't tried it, thanks to "Sadathpv" from another forum):

"Open the nokia maps application.
Select Maps
Click search
enter the GPS Coordinates in the search files (for example: 24 20 01 n 55 20 55 e)
after selecting the position it will show on the map, on the top it shows the details,
press and hold the details, then it shows another menu with save option, just select save and name it."

Supposedly the coordinates can be in either decimal or minutes+seconds.

What format are the coordinates that you want to use?

These were the cordinates 25°44'38"S 28°11'9"E
Though I did manage to get there without them.

I tried it using Mobus' method and it failed. When I tried the example Mobus gave, it worked. So it's more of problem with the maps data then the entering the coordinates.

The format of those coordinates are Degees, Minutes, Seconds...
I just tried them on my phone and they worked.
The way I entered them is: 25° 44' 38" S, 28° 11' 9" E
Showed up as 159 Proes St, Pretoria... That right?
Give them a try in that format and see if they work?
What version of Maps are you using? I'm using v3.08 11wk41 b02 with Map version 0.2.44.110

Ah thanks that got it working. Seems like all that was needed was a comma.
