Nope.

According to the Animation Director, it was all in-game scripted.
What you see is so far, what you get.

Was all in-game engine, but scripted.

;)

I second that, all in-game. Apparently it's only a pre-alpha build.
The camera angles were just made a bit more cinematic for the trailer. :D

hey fellow ps3 owners.

did anyone here try installing yellow dog linux onto their ps3s? was it any good? anything interesting come of it? let me know cos im thinkin of dabbling. A dos and donts post would be really helpful.

I started a new thread under the Linux forum.

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=2548753#post2548753

While I googled the net to relocate my lostPS3 Distro information I noticed that there are a new version; YDL 6.1 . Thus looking at the new features I stopped any further research and will rather use YDL 6.1 myself now.

Heres why.

- Dramatically improved, automated wireless config.
- GUI configuration tool for YDL.net.
- Bluetooth support for the PS3 Sixaxis controller.
- Barcelona Supercomputing Center CellSs.
- ps3vram for fast, temp file storage or swap using PS3 video RAM

I have given up on the Bots, We all know who got the best deal for the money and why and who got ... well lets not say it. :D

I downloaded 78% of the Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 for PS3/PPC. Let me know if you want a disk posted. Pm me a Box no.

Guerrilla Games already working on Killzone 3, Liberation 2?

Killzone Rumour ?

Killzone 2 isn't even out yet and this pops up. Power Unlimited, a Dutch gaming magazine, reports that Guerrilla Games is already working on Killzone 3 as well as Killzone: Liberation 2 for the PSP.

The scan of the actual article is above, but it's in Dutch. And while I am totally fluent in Dutch (which is a total lie), some of you may not be. So I provide you with a translation provided by therandomgamer:

There are still some Killzone games coming. The devs told the newspaper "de volkskrant" that they are already working on Killzone 3. It's not a big suprise, but it's nice to know.

We've also heard that Killzone: Liberation 2 is being worked on and will come out in 2010. Then there's the question what the third GG team is working on...

If GG does turn out to be working on these games, it's really no surprise (as the magazine said). With a popular franchise like Killzone, they'd be crazy not to. Of course, this is still a rumor for now. Besides, even if they are working on it, we probably won't see it for some time yet. Killzone 2, on the other hand, is coming out in just a few days. You ready?

Killzone 2 might get co-op as DLC

Killzone 2's great. It's awesome. It's mind blowing. Except... it doesn't have co-op. But Guerrilla Games has heard your prayers. According to the game's senior producer, they're looking into providing co-op as downloadable content:

We're investigating [co-op] now for downloadable content. We're looking at what would be the nicest possible things for downloadable content. We've already started on maps... we're not allowed to talk about anything else unfortunately!

Overlooking how she did talk about it, it has to be pointed out that it was only a month ago when Sony had to step in and emphasize that there "are no plans for co-op in Killzone 2" due to clamor from fans. The lesson here is that if you bug studios long enough, they'll eventually dole it out as DLC.

Rumours, Rumours?

PS3 price drop and a new PSP?
February 25, 2009, 06:21 PM —

In addition to the PS3 speculation, an even more speculative Sony rumor popped up today: this one for a "PSP 2." The PSP (Playstation Portable) is Sony's entry into the handheld gaming market, and it has struggled against Nintendo's DS system. Gaming blog Kotaku quote's Acclaim's Chief Creative Officer David Perry as having knowledge of a new, UMD-free version of the PSP (much like blu-ray is used to deliver game software on the PS3, proprietary UMD discs are used in the PSP). Says Perry, "I spoke to a developer who is working on it right now. I know this developer is already working on it, so that means they have a prototype. That would sound like a fall release to me." With no UMD drive, once again Sony would be turning to digital distribution to get software onto the system, though Perry claims games would be sold on memory sticks at retailers.

Neither a PS3 without blu-ray or a PSP without UMD seems likely alone, but combining the two rumors is interesting. Could 100% digital distribution be Sony's new business model for gaming?

The Plot Thickens?

Could 100% digital distribution be Sony's new business model for gaming?

Sony: UMD Business Is Critical To Us

Earlier this week, Acclaim chief creative officer David Perry said that he knows a developer who is working on games for a Playstation Portable that won't have the UMD disc drive.

Although Sony's John Koller wasn't willing to discuss further the details of the rumor, he did say that Perry's comments about the new PSP does ring true in one area: Digital downloads.

"We are making a concerted effort for digital distribution," he said. "We've talked to developers about increasing their digital download content."

Now What about the PS3 Blu-Ray player'less then rumour?

I saw a article but, cannot find it, where SONY at cess demo'ed a game downloaded from stick via USB to Harddrive and played without a disk!

Do any of the 80GB PS3 models have PS2 backward compatibility?

oh well that is not an important issue for me.

do the 80GB PS3s come with the 2.0 profile?

when it comes to playing bluray DVDs, I remember reading that there was some functionality not supported. was it the interactive features or am i thinking of the HDDVD addon for the 360?

Also has to be said the prices are quite steep for the games.

Yes it has been added via a firmware update, the 80GB PS3's should have this firmware by default

Also added it was part of the firmware update.

It is quite expensive, but its the same price as the competing console.
