Still convinced it was an error by Ackerman. If they wanted to rest the A team then he should have done it against the Kings rather.

This will only be an error if we don't get a home final, and I'll be very surprised if we get that far.

How about we focus on beating the Crusaders first before worrying about a home final? Seems like the logical next step.

So if they reach the final they'll have to fly to New Zealand.

Yes, but remember it is a near 30h trip to Argentina and back. The only coach which accompanied the Lions squad to Argentina was Ackermann, the other coaches are preparing the other Lions at home. The game to New Zealand will be a one directional trip, no more games, no more logistics.

The two Japanese players, Akihito Yamada and Yoshikazu Fujita, that the Sunwolves really needed to bolster their backline was dropped by their sevens coach today.

Fujita was not in the Sunwolves squad, but he was asked to join up with the team should he not make the final sevens squad. He is a phenomenal young player, had a good record at the Rugby World Cup.

Shame, Yamada could had wrapped up his Super Rugby career with the most tries scored... and now he is dropped from the opportunity to go to the Olympics.

I wonder why they were dropped?

Teichmann to become new Sharks boss

Former Springbok and Sharks captain Gary Teichmann is set to replace John Smit as Sharks CEO.

According to Rapport, the appointment is likely to be ratified on Monday, but an official announcement will only be made at a later stage because several of the Sharks board members are currently overseas.

Good, choice. Keeping it in house and with someone with good business and rugby knowledge.

Particularly since he was part of those glorious '90s teams.

Yeah, Teichmann has been running his own business for a while now, a lot more experience than Smit.

I agree that Teichmann will do a better job.

I like Teichmann, he also served on the Sharks advisory panel or still did up to the moment he had accepted the position that SuperSport had approached him with to succeed John Smit in October.

The Sharks are caught up in their own bureaucracy, and knowing that Teichmann served on a committee within this system he may already be too caught up. Look how they had treated Brian van Zyl, and up to today the Sharks has been avoiding the issue in the public light. They also had a baked AGM in April.

The KZN Rugby Union is also considering to sell another 9% to SuperSport to rescue the union…

Teichmann is going into this, knowing the dreaded situation. He has accepted a huge responsibility.

Grooming smit would've been a better call. It's been a dismal failure with him at the helm.

Lions 25 man group for the QF

Dylan Smith, Corné Fourie, Julian Redelinghuys, Jacques van Rooyen, Akker van der Merwe, Malcolm Marx, Franco Mostert, Andries Ferreira, Lourens Erasmus, Warren Whiteley, Ruan Ackermann, Warwick Tecklenbrug, Jaco Kriel, Cyle Brink, Faf de Klerk, Ross Cronjé, Elton Jantjies, Jaco van der Walt, Rohan Janse van Rensburg, Courtnall Skosan, Ruan Combrinck, Andries Coetzee, Sylvian Mahuza, Howard Mnisi, Lionel Mapoe

I also see that Nadolo and Ellis is out for the game. Some big boys to lose for a QF.

After the weekend's scrummaging performance, I must just mention this guy... he is just a 3rd prop and, in my opinion, the main reason for the Lions dominance.

I'm looking forward to watching the game live and give them zealanders a klap at the park :D

Would have been an easier game against the sharks but to take the cup you should be able to beat anyone.

Agree completely. I'm not phased at all. If we can't beat the Crusaders, we don't deserve the win the cup. And who remembers second place in any case.

Stormers. They can tell you when they ended top of a conference or played in a qf in any of the last 20 years just don't ask them when last they actually won anything.
