Which Harlequins?

The jersey was locally designed and manufactured by BLK in Cape Town. They are also the supplier to The Sharks this year.

Some other teams:

As to the design details... will find out later.

They were also of the Sharks last year. I bought some supporter jerseys for my wife and daughter from Takealot. R199 a pop, and awesome quality for the price.

Now I just wish they would do the Lions jerseys :(

Here is the kits,

New Los Jaguares Jersey - Likely to be December 16.
New Cheetahs Rugby Jersey 2016 - Expected to have a new kit, but no release date officially released. Will probably be next year (2016).

New Waratahs 2016 Jerseys - Will be launched in February.
Which will be which?

Any info behind the jersey? Looks like a Harlequins knock-off.

The Southern Kings launch their 2016 kit

The Southern Kings have revealed their playing kit for the 2016 season.

Speaking at the launch, Southern Kings Chief Operating Officer, Charl Crous, said he was extremely happy with the design that had been put together.

“The jersey encapsulates the Kings colours and our apparel sponsor, BLK, have really given a lot of attention to ensure that the players kit represents a design symbolic of the Eastern Cape,” he said.

Explaining their thinking behind the design, BLK Brand Manager James Hughes said: "The message we want to send about the jersey is 'why conform when you have the freedom to go Beyond Limits Unknown (BLK).

"This jersey shows that the Kings and BLK are prepared to go out of our comfort zones and to push the boundaries in terms of design and colours used. The pattern in the jersey is an abstract version of a beaded design symbolic to the Eastern Cape."

Hughes said their biggest challenge was to design a jersey which was symbolic of the Eastern Cape, while making the sure the modern element was not lost in its design.

"We had many designs that we came up with, but we feel the design chosen really encapsulates Eastern Province and the Kings perfectly," Hughes said.

Besides designing the franchise's jersey, BLK also had to come up with an alternate strip in case of a clash of colours with the Southern Kings' opponents.

Hughes is happy that they have created a strong and bold alternative strip.

"The design remains exactly the same, but the base colour changes to white instead of black and grey," Hughes said.

"The alternate strip really pops and we think it will be a big hit."

This year's Super Rugby kits remind me of the madness cricket went through in the early 00s. They also came up with these funny looking ODI kits, and eventually now in the 10s have gone back to normal again.

I picked my Sharks jersey up for R500 last year, they are very well made.

FYI - Takealot - size available, 5XL only....
Are you implying a few of the guys here didn't grow up on USN every and pap en vleis every weekend?

Nah I think the home kit is better.

Augusta now has women members. Maybe next year Wimbledon won't be fussy about ties&jackets. But Mickey on the other hand....
Don't bring gender discrimination into this and reference me; I'll blap you into yesterday's obituary column.

You mean in your other life you're not Tyson Fury? Hahaha more a case of a sign of the times than anything.

You can wear your red&black striped jersey.

SARU owns the Southern Kings and operate it via a company called NewCo. Their offices are in the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

EP Rugby (Pty) Ltd owns EP Rugby and EP Kings. Their offices are on the outskirts of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Some of the EP officials had to resign from EP Rugby (Pty) Ltd when NewCo offered them positions. Typically the CEO, Charl Crous, and some (not all) of the admin staff.

Some (not all) of the EP rugby players were offered contracts by NewCo. Prior to acceptance they had to legally terminate their contracts with EP Rugby (Pty) Ltd, which was easy as EP were in breach of contract by not paying them for a few months.

The Watsons are still with EP Rugby (Pty) Ltd and have nothing to do with NewCo or the Southern Kings.

With the Watsons out of the Super Rugby franchise, it seems like there is new hope for the rugby down there. Certainly hopeful that rugby will start to retain the homebred talent in the years ahead.

I'm still the traditionalist and would have preferred our red and black striped jersey

Somerset West RFC.PNG

That is the original Somerset West RFC kit. My old man played Dynamiters, when he was done with Maties, in the 70s, 80s and 90s. I still have the kit, very traditional and the kit that I would had stayed with, everything changed when Graham Power amalgamated Strand Somerset West RFC with Gordon’s Bay RFC in 1997 to become Helderberg RFC which is currently under curatorship.

Nothing quite like the old black and whites colour scheme.

7 Morkels. That's more than the amount of Jones'(7) in the Welsh team a few years ago.
