The Lions did make a whole host of substitutions around that time. Marx, Janse van Rensburg and Kriel were all pulled off. Think they just lost some continuity. They won't get away with that next week, that's for sure.
 
How does the expression go... If you want to be the best you have to beat the best.
The Jaguares game is in the history books now. To win this, we need to beat the Wellington team at home. That's the job. Simple. I recon these boys can do it but that's just me.
Great game today. Defending champions, check. Seven times champions last week, check... Trophy next Saturday morning... Let's see.

PS. Elton is a gem.

Marx looked like he was about to pass out when he was replaced. Kriel made his cover tackle, and nearly made his bed right there. I did not see van Rensburg when he was about to be replaced. Elton there at the end, had no more legs. The Highlanders was also without stamina, but their replacements pulled the team onwards...

As numerous posters has said the game was over after 60 minutes plus all the subs.

I know that everyone is being optimistic in this thread, but the Lions team cannot allow themselves to lose momentum next week. The Hurricanes have shown that they have the ability to score three tries in 10 minutes. The players which was subbed looked tired, and I believe that it is something that the Lions management has to be phased about tbh.

But, let's see how things go about next weekend.

I have never seen an SA flyhalf dominate with ball in hand the way Elton did today. Ever. Can't think of anyone.

Yea you are 100% correct :)

But the fact that they lost momentum was due to taking out key players knowing the game is won and trying to prevent injury. I think Elton should have been off too that last 20 minutes. Did you see his eye? Holy shyte :o
 
Congratulations Lions! Travel safely and prepare well. The Hurricanes will be a formidable opponent. But they can be beaten.

No, but I do point out errors which others would rather ignore. I do not support the Highlanders, however, I do support the men based in Hamilton and I do support my Province, and I do support Asian and Polynesian rugby as the underdogs. Overall I support quality rugby, at many times doing my best to be as unbiased as possible.

No, what the Lions are doing now is good, it shows the direction in which SA rugby must move in. In my opinion Ackermann is a brilliant coach and should coach the Springboks exiting the 2019 Rugby World Cup without any political play in the Springboks management circle. Yes, a Super Rugby cup win by the Lions will be a phenomenal achievement.

They are going up against a quality side which is playing their rugby with subtle alternate approaches. The Lions are no rugby gods, yet. When they look tired, they are tired, remember that they need to travel to Wellington, New Zealand. They need to win the game there, not lose against themselves, and the same apply to the Hurricanes, both teams which are playing to bag their 1st Super Rugby cup.
 
The weight of expectation should be off their shoulders playing in Wellington next week as opposed to playing at home. They're playing against a team that put 50 past them the last time they met as well as being on hostile ground. They go there well and truly as the underdogs and I'm sure that will suit just fine. Win or lose, they've been a delight to watch (even for us Stormers supporters :p ) Good luck next week boys! Right behind you
