CJ Stander named in Ireland squad for 6 Nations.

No surprise really. He is a beast.
Wrong green we're seeing him in. :(

The protocol for the use of the television match officials in this year's SANZAR and South African competitions will revert to that of 2013.

According to the SA Rugby Referees website, this means that in Super Rugby and Currie Cup the TMO is allowed to be consulted for just two things - the act of scoring a try and foul play.

TMO referrals for such things as knock-ons and forward passes in the last two phases when a potential try is the result will fall away. The referee and his two helpers have to deal with that in real time as was the case in the past - seeing and accepting what they see, reacting to the clear and obvious.

Yeah, well fcking done to the bulls for letting him go and opting for Stegmann/Spies. Lets also not forget Dewald/Jaques Potgieter. Real good call there BB, real good!!!

Neither am I. If there's a very obvious knock-on that was missed by the ref and his assistants the TMO may not relay the message to the ref. I can already see how this will be changed for 2017.

Well done indeed. Allowing a man to follow his dream and to make a lot more money than he ever could have made in SA. Nothing wrong with that.
 
So apparently Tiaan Liebenberg is trying to make a comeback.

Has been training with the Cheetahs to get fit again and hoping to get signed.

Following his dream?, do you even know what you are talking about?, Stander never made the Bulls team, Ludeke persisted with Stegmann, I'm pretty sure he went overseas to be more appreciated and get more game time, and just look at him now..... One of the best.

To start with, he played 13 Super Rugby games in 2012. Many off the bench, but he was picked.
He's far from the first player to head overseas. SA player quotas, more money, and a higher living standard are all contributing factors. He would've been a fool not to head to Ireland.
Lastly, it's every player's dream to play international rugby. Or is it not supposed to be Stander's?

Are you a little slow?
When and where did I say it should not be his dream?, I am criticising BlueBulls/ Ludeke for not giving him enough game time and losing him, I’m pretty sure they did not lure him overseas with millions. Sure he is worth millions now, but back then If they made him part of the BB starting 15 and given him a better contract he would have stayed. We rather opted to play Stegmann/Spies.
If he stayed he would have been n Springbok by now.

Cape Town - Former Springbok flyhalf Derick Hougaard could make a comeback for the Bulls three years after retiring from rugby.

According to Afrikaans newspaper, Rapport, the 33-year-old will visit orthopaedist Johan Kruger on February 1 to get the green light to resume a career that was cut short in 2012 because of an Achilles tendon injury. At the time, Hougaard plied his trade with English club Saracens.

Springbok Sevens star Francois Hougaard will return to the Bulls for a stint in Super Rugby, Afrikaans newspaper Rapport indicates.

Hougaard, who has a Springbok Sevens contract with SARU, will play in the Sydney, Las Vegas and Vancouver World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments before returning to the Bulls in March.

The 27-year-old is expected to play at least eight matches in Super Rugby, after the the Pretoria-based franchise reached an agreement with SARU.

Hougaard played 35 Tests for the Springboks in the 15-man code before setting his sights on Sevens last year.

That's understandable. He's not getting too much play time in the 7's and he wants to play rugby...not warm the bench.

As much as I support the Breezers as many call them… this and next year will be an enormous test under pressure. In my opinion they are making the wrong management decisions over and over again. To see our group, the Sharks and the Bulls are pretty much in the same camp. I don’t know what to say about the Cheetahs… The only good thing the Sunwolves has is their coaching team which is way behind schedule without having enough time to prepare their squad.
