Pathetic call by the linesman there. Was a monstrous, but perfectly legit tackle. And a penalty try awarded to the Aussies and yellow card to us. Ridiculous nonsense in a knockout once again...

Can't complain about the second penalty try that lost us the game, although there appeared to be a transgression in the leading ruck where it was held and played on the ground by the Aussies.

We needed better composure with 2 seconds on the clock and holding possession. Wayward passing was not required. The final cover tackle needn't have been high either. He had his man.

Even with some atrocious ref calls, we had every chance to win it and lost it for ourselves...

Only 2 weeks in and the Reds fire their coach. Richard Graham sent packing.

Unconfirmed reports are that Vorster are out for the season after inuring his knee. Whether if it is the same knee as last year is till unknown too. Mapoe is home for the birht of his child and Booysens is out for about 6 weeks after injuring his eyelid.

So this will be the first depth test for the Lions, but I think JA will start with Mnisi and Janse van Rensburg, who I think will be more than capable to stand against the Highlanders.

But is said that JA is looking in rotating some key players so will see who is in the starting XV.

Damn... and I've had high hopes for Vorster.... Lions been struggling with centers that are always injury prone.

Yip, me too, but I also have high hope for Janse van Rensburg. Big strong boy.

I don't know if I am tin foil hatting, but, the refs are doing everything in their power to keep the "weaker" teams in games wether it be 7s or 15s, some of the one sidedness and calls are beyond ridiculous. At least be consistent, just before Kyle Brown scored, there was a desperate high tackle on the South African that brought him to stop at the base of the posts, if the tackle by the Saffer after the hooter was a penalty try and a yellow (no advantage played), surely this was too, but because he either didn't see it (impossible) or played advantage we end up at a disadvantage decision wise? Didn't bother watching the rest of the sevens.

Pretty interesting. Gonna be more, I reckon.

Former Bulls Bok to play pro rugby in America

Former Springbok loose forward Pedrie Wannenburg is set to play in the USA’s new Pro Rugby league.

According to Rapport, the 35-year-old will play for the Colorado-based Denver franchise.

The 35-year-old, who is the first South African to join the league, says he is looking forward to ending his rugby career in the USA. He also believes many South African players will be attracted to play in the new league.

“I have a five-year visa and plan to play two more seasons. Then I want to get involved in coaching,” said Wannenburg. “I believe I have a lot to offer in a country where rugby is the fastest growing team sport.”

Former Springbok centre Andre Snyman is also part of Denver’s coaching staff.

Wannenburg, who played 20 Tests for the Springboks between 2002 and 2007, will travel to Colorado in two weeks' time after his last game for Oyonnax in the French Top 14.

The inaugural six-team Pro Rugby league season is set to kick off on April 17.
