Naas Botha faces sequestration

Legendary former Springbok flyhalf Naas Botha is seemingly in financial strife.

According to IOL.co.za, Botha’s estate was provisionally sequestrated by the high court in Pretoria on Thursday after a bank claimed he owed it more than R1.1m on a mortgage bond for a property in Mooikloof.

Botha, 58, was not at court and did not oppose the provisional sequestration application.

According to the report, Botha also did not submit an affidavit to the court setting out his possible defence.

Botha has been given until June 15 to oppose the application and give reasons as to why he should not be sequestrated.

Botha played 28 Tests at flyhalf for the Springboks between 1980 and 1992.

Botha played provincial rugby for Northern Transvaal, now called Blue Bulls, from 1977 to 1995.

During this period, his contributions ensured that they dominated South African domestic rugby for large parts and won the Currie Cup nine times (sharing it twice with Western Province in 1979 and 1989).

Botha also captained the Bulls a record 128 times and scored a record 2 511 points, including 1 699 points in the Currie Cup).

He was voted Rugby Player of the Year in 1979, 1981, 1985 and 1987 and has been a rugby pundit for pay-channel SuperSport for more than 20 years.

Ref is only policing the rucks and offside lines one way and that's against the Bulls. Week in and week out these refs play absolute shyte and nothing whatsoever gets said or done. Biggest bs ever is no one being allowed to question the bastards with the whistle, seriously.
 
The score needs to be tighter, but the Brumbies is the better team today. The Bulls is clueless at the breakdown and has little control in the attack. Pocock MOTM.
 
Pathetic refereeing. Everything the Bulls were penalized for the Brumbies got away with.
 
I think that the Force will take this one. The Sunwolves are making one too many mistakes. Pisi not playing well, others struggling. Force has it easy.
 
Rubbish rugby at it's finest. How so many rugby players can be so clueless is beyond me.

Tusi Pisi messed up with his poor kicking and decision-making on passing. At least the Sunwolves has shown that they could had played better rugby. They are looking much better than in their previous games on the attack when they are playing with confidence. It is clear that they are unable to play under catch-up conditions which was due to their own doing, it took them time to think about their movements. If they can cleanup their game then they will most certainly be competitive, it was also great to see them rectify their poor scrum.

I will be looking forward to them next year, when they are properly prepared with a greater squad.

The Force should be proud of their South Africans, they carried.
 
Wow. What a horrible tumble. Could have turned out so much worse.

Guessing he will get a few weeks off because of that.

That was a very unfortunate one, though. Ngatai at no point lifted specifically, it was just a combination of him going for the tackle and Dixon jumping for the ball, and the two together sent him tumbling.

Glad he's okay, though. Did a perfect flip.
