Official Super Rugby 2016 Thread

Most likely in my opinion. Looking at the young team which had played against the Cheetahs in Zimbabwe,

Schoeman is doing good and Brummer has the experience. However, without Pollard there is a gap. Louis Fouché is playing at the EP Kings. You need a third 'capable' man...

Joshua Stander was 4th choice, anyone seen him play

Maybe we will see the return of Derick Hougaard.

Nollis/BB will be stupid not to include him if he passes fit and wants to play.

Read last week that Hougaard is not even going to attempt a comeback. My guess is he did not receive good news from the doctor in Bloem.

What is happening the the franchise system?

The Boland Rugby Union looks set to be excluded from the Stormers franchise, a report in Die Son newspaper indicates.

WP Rugby became the sole owners of the franchise after a decision made by SA Rugby last year.

They are allowed one partner, and relations between WP and Boland have seemingly deteriorated, so much so that SWD will now be asked to form part of the Stormers franchise

Also, the maths won't work at 2 unions per franchise, we have 6 franchises but 14 provinces.

Springbok laid low by heart condition

Springbok wing Cornal Hendricks rugby career is hanging in the balance due to a serious heart condition, a report on Netwerk24 indicates.

Hendricks, who is also part of the Springbok Sevens squad, was set to play Super Rugby for the Stormers this year but he did not join his new team-mates at the High Performance Centre in Bellville earlier this week.

Questions were raised when Blitzboks Cheslin Kolbe and Juan de Jongh were released to the Stormers, but not Hendricks.

Hendricks is contracted to SARU and the rugby governing body did not want to comment when probed about Hendricks’ condition.

The Stormers have also remained mum on his condition.

It is believed that Hendricks will have to be given clearance by several specialists before SARU of the Stormers will allow him to play.

The 27-year-old has also played 12 Tests for the Springboks in the 15-man code.

Strong team. The back row has good balance to it :p

フィリューン will make that team. With Cheetahs and Sharks experience in SR 2010, as well as 2 years in Japan, the Griquas fullback will indeed be an asset in their pool. フィリューン is their only South African from what I can make out.

The last time the Japanese was being tugged around they sunk the Springboks… Then again, you guys are Scottish supporters?

I see that Hammett made Shota Horie captain, good choice. They will have a good game on Saturday as they will play against the Top League XV, the thing is… that Top League XV has a better chance to win the game. The Sunwolves has only started with practice on Monday. Though it is regarded as a Super Rugby warmup match, it is actually an annual charity event.

The Lions will need to study that game on Saturday...
