Yeah, I thought the reffing was pretty balanced. The game could easily have gotten out of hand and he managed it really well.

Thought dirtiest player on the field tonight by some distance was Duane Vermuelen. He got away with murder tonight.
In the end though the Stormers were deserved winners. They certainly weren't lacking in the passion department and Etzebeth is a future Bok lock, rate him highly. All of a sudden we got some outstanding locks.

Unfortunately each ref has his own interpretation of the rules and consistency goes out the window. Sad to see how outcomes of some games are being heavily influenced by the man in the middle.
Yes, there were some poor calls, but why would you say the Stormers should give him the keys? Some of those bad calls lead to Olivier's try. There were also calls that appeared bad and the commentators sowed the seeds by seeing the wrong thing - I replayed some in slow-mo on the PVR and realised that Joubert was actually correct on the odd occasion.
Was a ferocious game and the Bulls did well to come back like that. Well done to both teams.
Funny thing - my wife sat down in the lounge and sort of watched a bit of the 2nd half (she never watches rugby) and upon seeing Olivier, commented: "Surely his hair is like that because of the game, right? That can't be his normal hairstyle." I told her that it was and she said: "Gees, you wouldn't think a rugby player deliberately tries looks like a 'girl' [or something along those lines]."
EDIT: She did comment on Bekker too, said his head looks like he has Acromegaly - so she wasn't picking on a team, just calling it as she saw it.

The scoreline did not show the true reflection of the game. The Stormers ANNIHILATED the bulls in the game. Bulls had no answer to the Stormers onslaught. they have the best and strongest pack in the competition. bulls only capatalized on the stormers faults that kept them in the game. strange that the bulls looked good when the stormers play the expansive game. when the stormers kept in tiht among the forwards the bulls have no answer. ref had a poor game and affected the scoreline. if only the stormers can get the backline going then they will be a formidable team and hard to stop by any team. don't count the bulls out as they hung in there until the end. the irony is that the stormers are playing bulls rugby and the bulls playing stormers rugby. tough game next against the highlanders. i think the stormers can win this one too if they play to their strenghs.

3.Brumbies 18
Wild card teams
4.Chiefs 22

6.Crusaders 18
At 6th, the Crusaders do not look good for it. The Chiefs, Highlanders and Bulls will make great outsider bets right now. Especially if you can get the good margins. The bookies have traditionally showed great favour towards the Crusaders but they have not taken the cup in some time now and perhaps should not warrant such favour. The Stormers, on the other hand, are riding a wave. They're showing the determination that is needed from the beginning. I'm half tempted to drop a few on the Chiefs...

I can't agree with you here. I am a stormers fan, and for large parts of that game it felt like the Bulls were in control. Just lucky that they didn't score in the beginning there. They also had a few chances to get 3 points and they did not take it.
I also don't think our pack is the strongest. I also wondered how Liebenberg got the MotM award, he did have a good game but the needless penalty that he gave away basically changed the momentum of the game. He didn't even look like the best hooker in that game, in my opinion Chilly outplayed him.
Now the good points, that Etzebeth lighty is good. I can't remember seeing him not going over the gain line. I would have thought that he would have gotten the MotM award.

In the relentless fight for the bottom of the pile, the Rebels should have a slight home-ground advantage over the luckless blues.
Hurricanes v Sharks
I dunno if it is domestic loyalty or the belief that the sharkies are trying their damnedest to clean-up while away from home. Also, FS just hurt them so while they may have some bitter comeback plan, Sharks can probably stumble their way to a victory.
Reds v Brumbies
If it wasn't for the stupid conference system, Brumbies would be 6th, not 3rd. The Reds have sucked so far but at home will probably want to humble their domestic partners.
W Force v Chiefs
The Chiefs are the stand-out surprise package this season. Actually, I shouldn't say surprise - I've had confidence in this team since 2008.
Highlanders v Stormers
The winner takes the podium and I gotta favour the home side. However, I will not be surprised at all if the Stormers pull this one off. First tour game could just be the pinch in their steady performance so far. They can win it and know that they can, which is why I see them losing it. What a pity, nobody likes to see the highlanders have a nice day...
Cheetahs v Lions
Damned if I can call this one - methinks a draw is on the cards. FS looks favourable after a successfully (relatively) tour overseas, while lions may want to bounce back. I call a draw.
BULLS v Crusaders
The crusaders suck and are severely over-rated. They'll learn that lesson this weekend
BYE Waratahs
Waratahs have been, at best, lacklustre. BYE is still persevering to get at least one win this season. I see BYE trumping the Tahs.

Tempted to go with Blues, but their performance hasn't been consistent enough. So I opted for the home team who'll be looking to improve on last week's performance.

Sharks for me because of loyalty and I because I think they're improving. Although the Canes have taken a pasting from their supporters, this ain't the one they bounce back on.
Reds v Brumbies:
I do not see the Reds bouncing back without their injury woes going away. Brumbies licking their wounds from narrow defeat by Sharks will be making amends here.
Force v Chiefs:
Chiefs are looking way too good this year.

Eish! I struggled with this one. In the end I went with Stormers, as they have been consistent to date (although mostly at home) and I think their defence will be the difference.
