Official Super Rugby Thread 2012

I don't think the Stormers were lucky. They were bloody good on defense. On that alone they deserve to win it.

I know of no other side that will be able to withstand 30+ phases from Adriaan Strauss, Coenie Oosthuizen, Brussow, Ashleigh Johnson, etc. And all that just 5m short of the line. Respect!

Their problem will come later when they need to score points to actually win the game and not just defend a lead.

Sadly I think Sias will also be dropped to the bench after this game. Obviously his self confidence is rock bottom. And I feel for the guy because at school and even after school him and his brother were dubbed the next best thing since sliced bread. Then on to the scene came Johan Goosen and suddenly Sias is warming the bench. I am in no way judging him. Just saying it must be difficult to stay mentally strong after such a big fuss was made over you and now you are nowhere near the player Goose is.

I agree that the Stormers were good, not lucky.

I also agree that the stormers will need to be lucky if they do not learn to score points. Wonder if they learnt nothing from last year, being the best defensive team in the super series and then getting demolished by a Crusaders team at Newlands because the Crusaders ran in some tries and were ahead by 7+....

As for Sias, it just goes to show again that you can have all the physical ability in the world but if you do not have a "solid" head on your shoulders you will never be the best.

Ps. Where did the replacement flyhalf come from on Saturday?! He also looked likehe could play.

He is old. He just wanted someone to talk to :p:D

he had his wife with him and besides she was wearing glasses so she could have looked to see they were in the wrong seats, i almost had them tossed out by security.

He has been with the Cheetahs for a while now. Riaan "True Blue" Smit.

Played mostly Vodacom Cup last year and a bit of Currie Cup. If I remember correctly he played a bit of wing and fullback last year.

Are you also a grumpy old man? :p:D

Haha, well he really impressed me with his running and place kicking.

Why True Blue?

Hey the dude was looking for a fight, he mentioned twice that he should be sitting in my seat, he was looking for trouble I could tell.

:p I think you should have offered to commentate on the game for the elderly couple as clearly they would not be able to see a lot.

So the Sharks VS the Cheetahs this weekend....

I really do not know who my money will be on as I suspect the Sharks are really going to go all out and the cheetahs are fired up because of the game against the Stormers...

The referee is Kaplan. Sharks should win easily. :p

j/k

It all depends on team selections. If Naka is going to persist with Sias and keep somebody like Ashley Johnson on the bench, then Sharks will easily take it. If not, Cheetahs have a chance at least.

But if Pat Lambie is fit and ready for the game I fear it is Game Over Cheetahs.

Local games are always tougher. Playing in Bloem is no walk in the park. Should be a good game.

Conference log sucks

another who agrees with sentiments myself and others above have expressed.

It is only helping one country out of the three..... mmmm wonder who that can be...

Why cant the Stormers get try's! We need bonus points guys whats going on?

Why do people care so much about the bonus points? THEY ARE WINNING.

Yes, it is nice getting the bonus point(s), but it is just that, a bonus.

And the stormers offensive play is lagging a bit because they are set on defensive formations even with ball in hand.

I am a bulls supporter but I am glad that the stormers are showing some true guts on defence and playing "test" rugby, they should reach the playoff without too much trouble while the bulls will need a good weekend or two to make the play offs.
