But the deal was supposed to be done but a week ago. So we either didn't think that he was worth what he demanded or we couldn't match Tottenhams offer. Which is a serious problem.

Who is in charge of tranfers at Tottenham? They are still to appoint a manager.

The deal was supposed to be done and was reported to be all but completed and then Gylfi buggered off on holiday. If we don't match Tottenham's valuation of him thats fine by me, we've had way too many overpriced and overpaid players lately.

Their chairman Dan Levy is the head honcho there with regard to transfers etc.

Bit of a risk going to club without a current manager. I guess our wage bill is under pressure so we could not afford him at this stage. Read somewhere that Joe Cole and Aquilani are paid more than Suarez :wtf:

Still have an inkling that this is just a ruse played by his agent for a higher wage.

1. Well, that's because of a stupid direction taken by the board in footballing recruitment.

2. You say that like it's a bad thing. The way I see it, if you aren't competitive footballing wise and you aren't offering a premium salary, then don't expect players to come play for you. Yes, you might have a nice and shiny history but at the moment you are mid-table cheapskates. Now I realize that you have overpaid for some truly mediocre talent such as Downing, Adam and Henderson (though the jury is still out on Henderson) but if you don't grab the bull by the horns (and by that I mean actually offering a player what they're worth as opposed to how much you think they should get) then don't complain that you can't find decent players.

What the hell are you on about? You say we cheapskates but then declare we overpaid. Make up your mind. This guy is hardly a star. He had a good loan spell. Spurs threw more money at him to hijack the deal. Why should we pay over the odds? We leave that to the oil barons.

Exactly. I don't see why we should pay inflated wages and transfer if we don't value his worth as much as he is asking for. He is good, but Liverpool not signing him isn't the end of the world. Our midfield is already packed (Lucas,Gerrard,Aquilani,Adam,Henderson,Shelvey,Spearing,Downing,Maxi) what we really need to sign is another quality striker so that Suarez can move out to a wide forward position (where he excels).
 
Fergie has lost his touch. signs are there, but his arrogance always get the worst out of him as usual.

Not at all. It highlights the problem with the youth these days, thinking they're entitled to more than they deserve. You have to work for it first.

Agree. There is a Liverpool player (Raheem Sterling) he is abou 17/18 last year he came out and said he would leave if he wasn't given a chance in the 1st team. Madness.

If we get Adam Johnson, Defoe and Sturridge i will be happy. maybe a backup central defender will be a plus too.
