RVP, like any professional, wants to go somewhere where Champions League football is a virtual certainty and where there is a determination to win. He wont go to Man City, because he cant be certain whether Tevez or Mancini is in charge. At Old Trafford there is no doubt about who runs the show.

He'll get gametime. Remember 99, we had 4 quality forwards who all played their part. The one thing I'm hoping doesn't happen, is this makes Welbeck hesitate to sign a new deal. He's almost there I think, but this might give him pause.

I thought he was already delaying? Rvp you dumbass. What will happen at arsenal though? He was their entire strikeforce.

Nogal signed on someones birthday. I wonder how that present was organized....

I agree that 4 quality strikers (Roon, RVP, Welly, Chica) is needed as in 99 - We need to comepete in all competitions adn Wellbeck is still young and will get his chance, but a signing like RVP is definitely a positive move and one that we have not had for a while - it will motivate players in the team and give us some of that fear factor we have been missing - if nothing else, its a statement of intent and thats exciting in itself.

Bebe and Mecheda will get their chance as well but even without RVP, they were never gonna feature regularly

Honestly cant see why we would be dissapointed with this sigining as our MF is looking better with Shinji, Ando and Clev - Plus we have great wingers to boot

Double Footballer of the Year for 24million pounds = bargain!

Song is good, but he isn't worldclass. Arsenal have enough midfielders to survive without him, Arteta is the real heart of their midfield. They also bought Giroud and Podolski as well as highly rated Carzola. They will be fine.

Was song not their more defensive MF something that they need in the middle along with those attacking guys ( I know this as you know where Im coming from...hehe)

He was there more "defensive" midfielder, but he is more a box to box midfielder than a true holding midfielder.

I really think Arsenal need another decent CB and a proper defensive midfielder. (Same at Utd to be honest)

I think box to box is the preferred option like your Tiote's, Parker's, Toure's ect. All you need is someone to hassle and be there to pick up loose balls and start attacks, be in there for the stray ball in the box and cover for a DF in a counter attack. Parker for me does this the best

But my point is that those others wont do what Song does and therfore they wont really be fine would they?
