This guy's logic is exactly my point. My 2006 Mac works perfectly. It's fast. It's compatible with all software. I can even plonk in a flashed or genuine ATI 4870 with 1GB RAM, in fact I did that recently. A PC from 2006 --- er no.

He's using Windoze/Generic PC logic. Of course he upgrades his gaming rigz every 1-2 years to play the 4-5 FPS gamez available for Windoze. Right, dude?

How's the virus protection going? :)

BTW the only 'broken' PC I own is an Acer. My Mac, Panasonic and NEC work perfectly. And yeah it would be nice to have the NEC and Panny run OSX but sadly I don't have the time to tinker with Hakintosh OSX distros.

Expose - never use it
Dashboard - just wish I could toggle it on/off
Stacks - don't use em either come to think of it.

I can't function without the above, if you prefer keyboard shortcuts then I guess all the above would be redundant.

You can disable dashboard but I have no idea how you live without Stacks and Expose. They changed my life...

To disable dashboard:

1. Open Terminal from the Utilites folder or Finder.

2. Type:

defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES

and press Enter.

3. Restart the Mac and the Dashboard will be disabled.

Thanks but I would prefer to be able to toggle it on and off - some of my apps
put their own controls down where the dashboard lives and it regularly gets triggered by mistake.

As for the rest - well keyboard shortcuts work better for me. After so many years it's all muscle memory. :)
 
I dont use stacks, and sometimes use the dashboard. Use EXPOSE all the TIME! Find myself hitting the side button on my mouse at work or F3 over and over and it does nothing :\

Gonna take a guess here but I assume that 'defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO' would toggle back, although a restart might be required. Hate restarts, becoming more and more frequent these days...
 
Wow. I can't live without my applications and downloads stacks. Even before stacks I used folders in the dock and right clicked them for the file lists.

Easiest way to open an app tho, is surely spotlight. cmd-space, first three characters in apps name, enter.

im a switcher too,

just went out and bought a 24inch iMac and i cant believe i was duped by windoze for so long........ Brothers and sisters, hear me now........ Mac just makes sense

How long ago did you buy it ? New ones came out about 2 months ago. 27" and 21.5", would suck if they sold u a 24 as "latest model".

Good response. Some people just assumed you said you bought the top of the range one. The 24 is definately more than good enough for everything.

Macs just make more sense. Some people are just too stubborn but once they try a Mac, using Windoze is painful.
