Hi all,

Hope you're all having a good weekend so far.

So in my years I've played a lot of MOBA's, online FPS games, MMO's etc

I have also played ( & clocked ), a good number of single player games.

Online gaming is just a creche with little kiddies shouting, raging etc. In my MMO there are many mature older people playing hence less kiddie rage.

Single player gaming you get NONE of that. It's you, and the game.

Reason for this thread:

Have any of you moved away from online gaming due to all the crap that goes on?

Do any of you enjoy single player games more than online? ( No hassles of ping, lag, server down etc )

Lastly, in my opinion, when you finish a single player game, you can say, "I've finished it". In my opinion online gaming never has an end. Take FPS shooters for example. There's no real sense of accomplishment. Even MMO's.

Only real "achievement" is you've reached max level. Maybe did the ingame achievements.

I say this because I'm really considering moving away from online gaming and focusing on finishing single player games. I basically just want to know if anyone has done this and & if so, how has the transition been for you?

Thank you gentlemen

Ja, tried BF4 last year, some friends asked me to join them online. Didn't like the experience much, they wanted me to join them at the oddest times. Also, some of the maps they play over and over. Also no sense of accomplishment. Gets tedious.
Also tried Warframe and SWOR.

Depends, I mix both. When friends come over I play multiplayer games or when I get bored of my single player games.

Neva really played a online game. Mostly because of bad internet but also because of how much power whoever controls the server has over you and no modding... which is also why most new single player games automatically suck for me.

I think it depends on the game, but there will always be the people that ruin it.
I play a lot Arma 3 on pc and i find that majority of the players are quite mature.
I also however play PS4 and there are plenty sore losers and worse, bad winners.

for me its hard to get into single player games as i lack the time get absorbed into the story and will often end up never finishing any of the single player games.

You should try smaller indie games.

I prefer playing offline games. And I've noticed I don't always play well with others when it comes to multiplayer games... :D

It's okay with some games but with others like 7 Days to Die, I was throwing mini tantrums when my SO would take my stash or build onto my defences. LOL. I'm OCD ok. Don't go changing my symmetrical and uniform building style. :P

I wish they'd bring back old school Warcraft. Used to be one of my fave games. :(

I prefer single player and offline. Connection issues are infuriating if you aren't even trying to play multiplayer. They also often mean little to no mod support.

I only play online. No interest at all in playing single player.
Often play with mates so a good online experience. If I end up in lobbies with randoms - well that is what the mute player functions are for.

You're missing out on a huge number of amazing single player experiences then, including most of the best games ever made.

I enjoy both single and multiplayer gaming. Both have their rewards! However, (IMHO) Single Player games are more rewarding.

There are some really awesome SP games that no MP game will ever be able to beat. I always frown when guys tell me that they skipped the SP altogether and dived straight into the MP (ala COD and BF series). Jeez, they don't know what they're missing.

So, although I enjoy a good frag session on a daily basis, SP > MP every time.

It's not really the game that bites. It plays a huge role - sure. But the main thing is jamming with mates. That I enjoy that most.
I do still purchase most of the games coming out - and I try them. But I just get bored too quickly. Witcher 3 comes to mind. My son plays the k@k out of it. I gave it 20 mins and was done.
My son is a big gamer, so the purchases still happen. So I get to try them at least. I just lose interest too quickly.

Games I do like to play on my own (and multi) are RTS type games. That I enjoy a lot still and can lose a lot of the hours of my life getting sucked in.

Think I am just starting to get too old.

So you gave up during the tutorial? The Witcher 3 is amazing once it gets going. Have you tried ramping the difficulty to max on all these games you find so boring?

WoW destroyed single player games for me. Ever since playing MMO's it's nearly impossible to play against AI. Just feels scripted. But I'm actually enjoying Witcher3. Maybe it's just because the game is so pretty :o

i dont have the greatest line but i did try SFIV online a few times and got sworn at every time i beat someone lol
prefer playing just me and the game so offline for me.

Both. I have my mmo's ( have a good group of friends that I play all my mmo's with) and then enjoy my crpg's as well.

It all depends on the game.If you are into COD you are going to have a hard time with all the kids online.I recently started playing Zombie Army trilogy online co-op and its amazing. If someone is taking the piss i just mute them, thats what the function is there for.No use trying to go offline because of some kids, just mute them.

Ramping the difficulty usually leads to me getting bored even faster. :o

Just can't be arsed to struggle.

Orbital pretty much sums it up. When I start playing a game, it must grip me - straight away. Instant gratification. If I have to figure stuff out, run around looking for stuff, blah... Brain goes to sleep. I spend my entire day figuring stuff out. Gaming for me must be about shooting the *** out of whatever - arcade style. Why I like CoD so much.
Forza 5 is another game that has held my interest. Nice and fast.
