Telkom is also offering customers special call rates on April 27. Telkom will apply its CallMore rates from 19h00 on April 26 to 7am on April 28. Calls between Telkom phones will cost less during that period, in most cases doubling the talk time. This discounted peak rate does not apply for fixed to mobile.

This must be the first time in what... 10 years they have done this.. guys we are slowing taking these guys down.. its slow yes oh so slow but we must stay strong and unite..never have they had so much bad press in the media since the forum started and we wont stop untill they do. So no need to disconnect tonight.. although i will cause u never know with these bastards.[}:)]

Fantasy is what people want, reality is what they need.

I'm almost afraid to leave my isdn on. They'll probably cock up the billing.

Telkom - South Africa's Handbrake to progress.

This does not apply to the infinicall plan (R7 option)

"Please note that the discounted Telkom Packages (Infinite Call, Surfmore and XtraTime) are excluded"

So no good for dial-up internet users

Hi Guys,

I know of some really peeved off people because of the confusion that Telkom created. Their website did not specify that Dial Up were not included in this Call More Period. I also heard that they have had thousands of people calling in to enquire. Telkom deserves every complaint that will be phoned in. Over and above the bad publicity they have created for themselves they have gone further to show the rest of SA what a bunch of fools they really are. What is the difference between someone phoning call more or someone dialling up on infinite call. They both use the same copper wires and the same exchanges, the difference only is the destination. One will be to someone else home phone number and the other will end up at an ISP.

I hope someone sends this complaint to ICASA. And ICASA should rule that everyone using Infinte Call on the 27 of April 2004 must be refunded for being overcharged by Telkom.

Just for everyones reference. Infinite Call is not R7 anymore and hasn't been for several months now. It is now R8.50. A 20% odd increase. For people using Infite Call make sure you are aware of what you are actually paying.
And for the person that does send a complaint in to ICASA, dont forget to mention this fact. And state that Telkom is imposing inflationary pricing on Infintecall with their 20% price hike. And send a copy to Trevor Manual aswell so he can adjust his CPI figures accordingly, as you are sure his single digit figures cannot be accurate.

Doekvoet, where did you see the exclusion?

Unless i cannot read. Their is no mention that Dialup 56k or ISDN is excluded.

If you feel that Telkom has done you an injustice please send this guy an email and make your feelings known and insist on an apology. [email protected]

It sounds pretty straight forward to me - the Callmore period (from 7pm on 26 April to 7am 27 April) will be extended to 7am on 28 April.
The infinity plan applies to Callmore time only, hence it should be fine to do a dialup today (27 April).

I wouldn't try my luck tho! [B)]

Called 10212 for faults and pressed a wrong entry to get transferred to a consultant -

InfinitCall IS applicable for today... unbebloodylievable

Oh Well Mad. I dont know. I think Im going to retire from this bull****. I spoke to my friend this morning and I ........ quote him as he phoned Ravin Maharaj, Media Relations SA Ltd. He first SMS'd him last night. And at 8am this morning he phoned him back on his cell to tell him it did not apply to Infinite Call, 56k and ISDN Dialups. He also stated that Mr Maharaj said he had hundreds of calls, unquote.

you make your own summary. But the argument I heard was that Infinitecall is not applicable on the 27 April.

If that is the case, Mr Maharaj needs to go on a communication course.
Quite ironical that Telkom, a communication company, can make such an oversight in a simple message to the public. As far as I am concerned, if there is an exclusion, then such an exclusion should be clearly stated. Perhaps it is just another trick to milk some more money from the consumers...

BTTB u're right boet, I just called 10212 again, a lady (Jeanette or sumfing) said no Infinit doesn't apply, and the Callmore is for local calls only.

What a dunch of bickheads. This is the last...
Can anyone tell us of any good printing compaines for the Hellkom stuff:??

Ok. So everybody has the message now. Good.[:D]

It still doesn't exclude Telkom from a Complaint Referal to ICASA, IMO. One can only try and geuss what Telkom makes in one day from every dial up subscriber in SA. ICASA should be informed of this little indiscretion from Telkom and they should make a decision and I suggest that Telkom refund all Dial Up Infinitely Charges as per their offer etc etc.

It's a misleading selection of sentences.. I dialed in for over two hours today and then called the fukecrs again and then it's "no sir it only applies to LOCAL calls, also not InfinitCall."

Thanks Telkom. Actually, thanks management. $BC.

I'd love to meet one of you guys face to face. There'd be nothing left of you.

InfinitCall is a product which is added to a tariff plan, Callmore is a timezone.
They are not the same thing! Check this...

http://www.telkom.co.za/products/infinitcall.jsp
"InfinitCall plan is an optional calling plan for residential customers, where for an additional monthly payment, the customer's calls will be capped during Callmore time over weekend and weeknight times - between 19:00 - 07:00 Mondays to Fridays and from 19:00 Fridays to 07:00 Mondays.
Customer's calls will be billed at the normal "per second" and all calls made in Callmore time will potentially be capped at a certain amount."
"Call as much as you like during Callmore time knowing that calls will never exceed the cap amount."

I am right, they should have excluded this in their media announcement![:(!]

Sounds like a ICASA complaint to me...

Well, i left mine on the whole day. i read the blurb on the telkom site and it seemed crystal to me. if they charge me full rate i won't b happy.

Telkom - South Africa's Handbrake to progress.

I agree with Strobe.
Telkom has no excuse. They cannot expect Mr Public to know the intricacies of their products. It came across as an offer for everyone and was interpreted as such. They very clearly noted the excluded products and failed to mention people on Dialup and Infinite Call.
In future they should specify the exact meaning of their offers. They are to blame and it’s as simple as that. They should be shafted for misleading the public. I’m sure their actions were unintentional and not malicious, but they are big boys now, being listed and all so they should face the music and admit their mistake by crediting everyone’s account. That IMO would be the professional thing to do.

very very unprofessional.

i left mine on for basically half of the day as well. this is gonna be another mega bill, and since i specifically told my parents that its a callmore day, they are gonna hold me responsible for the cost.

plz, lets make ourselves heard and complain about this.[V]
