OH MY GOD!

In fact i'm going to go a step further. If telscum charge me full rate for this, and if i don't get joy after the numerous calls to their acounts dept i'm already forseeing(and if i hear "excellent service" i think i'll explode) it'll be the last straw for me.
I'll cancel my isdn, close my account, and wait for sentech to stick a tower up in my area. I refuse to support a company that steals from me. Though i suppose thats what i'm already doing, lol.
I work form home and my company has a line at my place so i can get by with email etc. and i can make calls with MTN. Cutting my nose to spite my face i suppose, but i think it would be the right thing to do.
Then again, everything might turn out just peachy, they might actually do what it says on the tin.

If a dispute arises with Telkom, payment is deferred until a solution is reached. If you guys all take this up with Telkom they have but no excuse - they have to sort it out before any payment is made to them. A little known fact.

So don't pay them until they tell you what the outcome is and don't let them give you the run-around. Even if it's just a few hours worth that's not the point, it's still wrong what they did, and they should take responsibility for that.

Well, i got my bill today, R250-00 for the day, i feel pigsick, gutted, pissed off.
I'll start my calls tomorrow. Any suggestions on how to make a big stink about this?

I suggest you view and print their press announcement on their webpage, then go to your nearest branch with that and your phonebill to make your case. They will obviously tell you that the special excluded those who had subscribed to the Infinitcall package, but then you can politely ask them to show you were this was stated or communicated to you. If you do not get any satisfaction, perhaps the small claims court would be your next point of call. If you win in the small claims court, then you can go to the newspapers and other media and drag them down. [:p]

Infinit call applies to National Calls. The telkom call center people are quite obviously uneducated in the difference between National and Local then.

If you like I'll scan and upload my detailed billing, i've never once been charged more than R7 for a call anywhere in SA

Ok, called them today. The first one tried to fob me off with the expected response. When i persisted she put me through to her superviser, who, it has to be said, was pretty fair with me. She logged an official query and told me i would be contacted in a couple of days(holding breath).
So i'll give it a couple then call again.
Thanks Karnaugh, but i'll just use mine, its almost exclusively used for net purposes, and the R250-00 sticks out like a sore thumb between the R7.50's
So lets see what happens.

could be interesting if you cited the CEO as the corespondent [:D]

Update.
Today i got a call telling me that they've just realized that i have an isdn line (strange, as i told them that from the out), and therefore have to pass on my complaint(they seem to insist on calling it a query) to the isdn section.
Also, they've so far failed to provide me with a reference nr for my complaint/query, which i find mildly irritating.
And on we go.

Well, nothing solid seems to be happening, and its getting close to debit order time. There is no way i'm letting this amount go, so i'll call them again tomorrow, and if i don't get joy, i'll cancel my debit order, and pay the bill manually minus the disputed amount. [V]

Joy to the world! i feel fuzzy and good all over. My argument was accepted by telscum, they are crediting me with the disputed amount. Seems like bitching & moaning pays off sometimes.
In all fairness, the complaint was handled reasonably well by the people i spoke to, except for the initial call, and a period of about 12 days where i heard nothing.
I suggest anyone who paid full price on freedom day call up and ask for a credit.
I'm happy to get my money back, but also cheesed off that the discount advertised appeared misleading, something they should have thought about before printing it. I can only imagine how many people have been charged the full amount, either by not knowing about the discount, not bothering to complain after receiving the bill, or giving up after the first call.
