I can't have this sort of instability on my network !!! Yes I know if I want guaranteed service and stability I should use diginet but ADSL has been more than sufficient and delivering to my needs.

Due to all this up and down I have taken out 2 x 30gb SAIX contracts and its been working perfectly.

I am aware of the peering link issues between Verizon and SAIX, but this sort or intermittancy is a bit over the top.

Is anybody else as badly affected ? What is an effective workaround ?

Friday 23rd May

Still no reply from Verizon... going on 3 days intermittent service..

What else can be done but stay on the SAIX network ?

Ofcourse come billing time they will expect full payment for services rendered

good going Verizon

do verizon offer services to businesses alone?
not sure what you mean ?

but I'll try answer anyways...

About a year ago I had negotiated a deal with them whereby I become my own ISP. Bear in mind that my company does close of 150-200Gb's a month. So I just manage my own usernames and passwords for the various routers an there we go.

never was impressed by verizon, was with them for 2 months and had connectivity for 70% of the time. Now I use Internet Solutions and they much better, plus anyone that can make Telkom respond in 30 min is OK by me!

I can recall when we terminated our diginet services, the rep from verizon told me that adsl is not trustworthy.

Sure, we had our downtime, but outages rarely lasted longer than a day or two at the most.

With adsl you have more flexibility in choosing what ISP to use than with diginet.

Yup, that was my exact reason for switching from diginet to 6 x 4mb DSL lines in my CT and JHB offices. I have redundancy and now peak at 2mb while diginet will be limiting.

This is REAAAAALLLLYYYYY painful for us over here too, we use a bonded line from Technology Concepts (the bandwidth comes from Verizon) as our primary connection for our VPN between our 10 branches and it has gone down every single day at least for varying amounts of time since last week Wednesday. At this point, all branches are disconnected and the company comes to a standstill cos the branches can't use the company application (Syspro). Bloody frustrating!!!
