Okay, so I need your dining advice..

So I'm in a bit of a twist here..
My better half's 30th birthday is coming up next month, and I would really like to treat her to a (very) nice restaurant amongst other stuff. Now the other stuff I have sorted - its the dining that has me nailed.

I am looking for a very nice, fancy restaurant in Johannesburg. Problem is, it needs to serve Halaal dishes.

I have considered (so far) the following:
Piccolo Mondo,
Byzance,
Punchinello's.

Are there any other nice ones you may have in mind? Cost is not an issue - as this is a big occasion.

If you dont mind driving about 15km from fourways(a bit past northgate). There's an Italian restaurant that serves really nice food & the atmosphere is great too.

Ever had a fillet where you dont get a steak knife? I believe they can cater for functions too

I've heard Moyo's food is halaal, besides them selling alcohol.
Also have a look at Adega for seafood options.

Are the one's you mentioned above halaal certified, or just halaal food even though sell alcohol?

Can't think of anything else now..will post more if I do. There's not a wide range of "expensive" halaal resturants here. Since it's for a special day, have you thought of surprising her with a picnic somewhere?

Went to Moyo's Zoo lake and didn't really think they were that great. Especially for the price you pay.
 
Except for Piccolo Mondo, I did not know that these others served halaal food too.
Bukhara in Sandton City serve halaal food, but are not halaal-certified (serves alcohol).
The Butcher Shop in Sandton claim to serve halaal food (Karan beef) and will show you their supplier's certificate if asked, but also serve pork, so make your own mind up there.
Places that have been mentioned, but I've not been to so may not be: Bombay Blues (Rosebank), Sheik's Palace (Rivonia).
Check out the restaurant at the Radisson in Sandton too.
 
Why don't you invite an Imam with you for a starter and when he's about to leave he can also make your main course halal.
 
Try The Sheikh's Palace on Rivonia Rd. Their food is pretty good and the vibe is awesome as well. Halaal iirc...
 
Go to Ghazal(Indian) in morningside.
Sheiks Palace food is average but the woman are hot, but that's not what you need on your anniversary!!!

Bukharas also good, I also enjoy the Raj.
For seafood try Pigalle or Mangiare in Melrose Arch.
Also Villamoura for prawns.

I also doubt your 3 listed restaurants are Halaal...
 
Even though they are in the greater Sandton area, none of the ones listed in the last few posts are what I would describe as extra-special or in any way out of the ordinary.

Not all restaurants around here are worth writing home about. JMHO.

Only a narrow minded person will say something like that, besides its not the imam that makes the food halal. Shows how intelligent you really are.
