Guys, what can I do with an old Android 4.4 KitKat tablet.

I had a look around, and can't seem to see any custom roms for a Lenovo Yoga 10.1 inch tablet. With apps no longer supported, is there anything creative I can do with it?

Use it as a screen connected to a Raspberry PI? Use it as an alarm clock? :D

I have a very old apple tablet. I use it to watch YT and read pdf's now. Doesn't have YT app but YT on browser works so far. :cool:

I use 4K YouTube Video Downloader to convert YT videos to MP4 files @ 480p (SD) resolution on my laptop or PC - then transfer them onto a 32GB SD card on my old Samsung Tab 3 (SM-T211) tablet running KitKat 4.4.2 - that way I can watch YT content via the VLC Media Player app during load-shedding (I watched a few 'Mayday: Air Disaster' & 'Mentour Now' aviation videos last night). ;)

I also use 4K YouTube to MP3 Downloader so I can convert YT music videos to MP3 files & also transfer them to the 32GB SD card as well, so I can use the tablet as a jukebox with VLC when I'm not watching any YT videos... ;)

It works great as a portable media player for me - I can also use the Spacedeck app to use it as a second screen on my laptop as well... ;)

Posting here as I also have a Samsung tab 4 (SM-T531) running 4.4.2. I am totally out of my depth here, so advise, but in simple terms please. I was reading about rooting the device and installing a newer version of the OS. Here https://www.gihosoft.com/mobile-tips/how-to-update-android-version.html it is seemingly possible, but vague at the same time. Does it work? It seems that after rebooting one simply updates the OS as per update function? Sounds too simple to go down. Advice will be appreciated by myself and surely the OP?
