Old Model Ipad and Gmail.

I have an Ipad which seems to be a 1st Generation Model. (A1337)(MC497LL) and it is updated to 5.1.1 and cannot go any further.

I am trying to download gmail but it won't work unless it is updated to 8.0, where to from here?

Surely Gmail could be installed on 1st Gen ipads and if so, where do I find an older version of the app?

Can I jailbreak this pad to be able to install apps?

Is there a website that will allow me to install older versions of the apps currently in circulation?

You could try that, may or may not still be valid. I didn't find an old version of Gmail in my admittedly brief search.

Doubt you'll be able to install older versions of apps without jailbreaking. I think your best option will be to use the native Mail app, in my opinion it's anyway better than the Gmail app.
