Smog is becoming a major headache for the Chinese as the Beijing Olympics approaches. In fact it is so bad that the English hockey team is training with red lenses, which will apparently assist with visibility in Beijing’s smog filled conditions.

*cough* where is the hockey puck? *cough*

I can't *cough* see the puck anywhere... ah.. there it is... *couuuugggghhhhh* *wheeze*

 :D

The chinese will have an advantage in being used to the smog...

Glow-in-the-dark hockey balls ftw.

Anybody know why red is supposed to help?

Glow-in-the-dark hockey balls ftw.

Apparently it doesn't help except that seeing the world through rose colored lenses makes you forget that you are blind.
:p
Or something like that ha ha ha.
No, seriously, I'm not sure.

red would help because red light, being of longer wavelength than blue is less scattered by smog, so puck would be easier to see. unless the puck was blueish in colour

I seem to recall everything having a reddish hue when I was there that I guess was caused by the smog. Perhaps its just a way to acclimatise the players?

Guys, ice hockey is played INDOORS. The English team probably doesn't have an ice hockey team. Hence it's not called a PUCK. It's probably a ball, and field hockey is played outdoors. :D

Colours that aren't the same colour as the glasses would be blocked. In reality, the actual light blocked would depend on the quality of the filter.

And a red/green/blue/yellow filter would block everything.
