Switched my gaming machine to use this. First time arch linux experience for me, but was very easy to install. The theming support is actually pretty cool. I. have a Fallout pip boy based theme on atm.

Different is not better. Give me the basic navigation a 90 year old can navigate so I dont have to think about it and can enjoy whatever the reason was I switched on the computer.

I am going to give Omarchy a test run on an entry-level laptop, and then install Winboat to see how well it handles a containerized Windows. I know there are other vm solutions, but I want to test it with native Windows apps.

Hmmm, it has its use case, but Omarchy will also use Docker (sorry, Dockur). WinBoat is also still in its early stages, so it will evolve with user and dev input.

The Linux dev environment though is in anarchy. I didn't use to be like this. I am all good with Omarchy being a disrupter, though I still find CachyOS as the better distro, just from a performance point of view. For the server side of things I am happy with Ubuntu LTS.

Some of these devs though, they need to grow up. This is a form of diversity that leads to defragmenting a common cause.

For now I will wait for Omarchy 3.1 before exploring it.
 
I just installed Omarchy 4 and am loving it so far. Bit of a learning curve with the keyboard commands but i am slowly getting the hang of it.

I like Omarchy, but it isn't replacing CachyOS on my side anytime soon. I do support their mission to accelerate Linux adoption, but the whole vs them thing is dragging Linux down. I am talking about distribution, now you have Omarchy vs Arch. Linux needs to remain open, even when it is littered with anarchists and now I am talking Animal Farm or should I say Linux Farm?

Omarchy is good though, but not revolutionary. IF they can sway vendors to relook legacy support on Linux then they will have my vote all day. Far too many architectures are underutilized and or simply sandbagged.
 
I've been looking into moving over to Linux for a while now and Omarchy caught my eye recently. The main issue I have at this point is that anti-cheat that doesn't work on Linux. Moving to Linux is a non-starter if I won't be able to game on it

Yea this is why i am dual booting at the moment. The linux instance is my "dev" os as well as learning linux deeper than i know already. A lot of the games i am running right now are linux compatible so i can use linux more frequently right now but there are games that i want to play that are one windows. luckily both os' boot really fast so switching is really quick

I am a long time Linux user and tried Cachy which was fine for gaming but if I have a choice I try to stay away from Arch just because of Pacman.

For instance on cachy I needed to install Heretic to abliterate a local LLM which required a specific repo that you could not install. 4 hours later I was still battling and trying work around etc. Formatted, installed mint, had vllm running, reinstalled steam and had my games downloading in 30mins.

Games are supposedly not as good but to be honest turn off the FPS counter and you have no clue the difference between them.

Omarchy is also arch based so I would consider it for my use cases.

Omarchy is good. I liked it, to be honest, but it was not enough to turn me into a long-term user. Maybe that will change in time.

I use Ubuntu and Fedore on a near-daily basis, and some distros tailored to Docker and containers.

My old machine runs CachyOS with Cinnamon. A decision that had a lot to do with rapid Wayland adoption. I hardly ever had an issue with Arch; sure, some teething issues, but development has ramped up and solved some quirks.

Nix on the otherhand... I don't get the appeal; maybe I am behind the times. Every time I wade into a Nix vs Arch debate, ugh.
 
Played with it a bit on the weekend and I quite like the tiling approach and it’s not really all that dissimilar to how I work on MacOS anyway.

Was however not the all in wonder magical experience with constant repo timeouts and failures to install and or update so will have to see if that was just temporary and give it another more thorough go.
 
I have installed Omarchy a few times, and each time it upgrades, it seems to struggle with timeouts, and my OS get's completely broken and won't boot, unless I restore to a snapshot. I can't get past this point.
