Ombudsman nails online store for not delivering items — including portable power stations

The Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) has warned South African shoppers against dealing with eGadgets.co.za — an online retailer selling electronic goods but failing to deliver them.

Many of the complaints surrounding eGadgets' failure to deliver orders related to load-shedding backup systems, according to posts on HelloPeter.

Odd this was my 1st tracker. Took a month but eventually cancelled with no big issues

Most banks have a way of reversing or disputing debit orders (your credit card is irrelevant to this conversation), try to find out how.

I'll never make use of them again. I had billing issues and their support is non-existent.

Yeah HelloPeter is the next business to get reported to the CGSO.

They auto create business profiles, provide no way of opting out of their site, and then do not allow businesses to respond without paying exorbitant monthly fees. I think it was like over R100 per reply.

Furthermore all the favourable business statistics are centered on engagement with the customer further forcing businesses into spending more on the platform.

Even if you are a legitimate and reputable business this creates a very abusive business model. Essentially they blackmail businesses into paying them.

Beame is a vehicle recovery company. I think some insurers require use of that specific company for the second device on their high risk vehicles (the Toyotas)
