Telkom Mega 105 with Service pack 3

Hi ,

Have any of you found a work around for this issue to stay on dhcp and
not static. Can't seem to find a setting on the Mega 105 that will allow my Laptop to recieve DNS when in DHCP mode.

Thanks

new laptop connected but not connected

I recently bought a Lenovo S10e 10" netbook to travel with.
I was frustrated as all hell because my XP OS would not connect thru the Mega105 WR modem to the internet. It worked fine with the Quick Start (linux?) OS.

However I then remembered this site and after a search found:
Telkom Mega 105 with Service pack 3!!!!!
...

Check your DNS settings:
Start -> Run -> cmd -> ipconfig /all
OR
Right click your connection -> Status -> Details (I think).

You should have DNS settings in place. If you are using DHCP to automatically assign IP addresses (the default), then your router should be providing these settings. For some reason, SP3 + Telkom routers = DNS issues.

Solution: Input your DNS settings yourself:
1.1) Right click your connection -> Properties -> Highlight TCP/IP -> Properties -> Specify DNS settings.
1.2) Make the DNS settings 10.0.0.2 (Don't worry about the alternative configuration.

ergo! fixed! THANK YOU sn3rd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would always like to find out how to get this sh1tty telkom router to assign a dns address to my workstation. For some uknown reason i have to manually enter a static DNS address into my tcpip settings. The telkom router gives out a ip + subnet mask + gateway but not a dns address.

Yeah, even though in the DHCP settings on the 105 there is an option to assign ISP assigned DNS settings.

Load of crap if you ask me.
