My cousin is looking for a once-off 2GB data SIM (or whatever is nearest).
I see CellC has a 3GB for R400 ... a bit steep when you consider that they have 2GB for R99 (on contract).
Who else has a similar deal?

Don't get the 3GB for R400 it only lasts 30 days.
Rather get the 3GB for R399 that lasts 365 days.

That's what I meant... The 3GB that lasts 365days for R400 (minus R1). Isn't that pricey, considering that 8-dot-ta was giving us 10GB for R299?! (although that was a 30-day expiry).
CORRECTION: 8-dot-ta was giving us 10GB for R199?!

As far as I can see the data expires at the end of the next calendar month on all the Telkom Mobile data deals.

On the CellC R399 for 3GB deal the data is valid for 356 days, but you need to buy a new sim in store when you run out.
The top-up system is a pain; limited info available on the CellC website and the call centre staff don't know either.
Worst is that the top-up data expires at the end of the month.
Why CellC do not have an easy on-line top-up system to buy pre-paid data that will last 12 months, I do not understand...

Not steep if he/she does light browsing and basic internet. Don't have to worry about data disappearing after 2 months. Got this for mom, and it's the damn cheapest around.

I got the R399 for 3GB deal for my parents in the beginning of the year.

You don't need to buy a new sim card everytime you recharge, I usually just go in to the Cell-C branch and buy the Top Up (same as buying airtime).
