Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt predicts that there will be more than a billion Android smartphones in use within the next six to nine months

Only if you want them to. That's the beauty of Android; you can make it look anyway you like. After some experimentation one gets to a setup that works best and one sticks to that. Apple users let Apple do that for them. A Facebook takeover is totally optional.

I like Android, I really do, but I do not want only one provider on the market. I so wish Ubuntu would succeed.
