One for the road

I got my hands on the Acer Aspire One netbook to play with for a couple of weeks and on the whole I was very impressed. The Aspire One comes with a choice of operating systems - either Windows XP or a scaled down Linux - and who you are will dictate your choice.

At that price, I'd rather put in an extra R1000 and get a decent entry level Asus Core 2 Duo notebook. Might be slightly heavier, but at least you dont have to squint to see the screen. When will people realise that Netbooks are scaled down in functionality and size, and should be scaled down in PRICE TOO.

I've got a 7" Asus and its still good..

My iPOd screen is smaller, I don't squint at that

yeh ok, i know what you mean - some people are happy with 7 to 9", some are not. Its down to personal preference. But, seriously, R5000? You can get an Asus EEE for just over half that.

Yeah... a shoddy 701 that is available here and in somalia, ethiopia and the drc. where are the latest models?
