One Iranian bomb possible

OMG here we go again

Iran has enough nuclear material to build a bomb, the United States' most senior military commander has said.

"We think they do, quite frankly," Adm Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, told CNN.

"And Iran having a nuclear weapon, I've believed for a long time, is a very, very bad outcome for the region and for the world," he said.

Iran says its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful, but the West suspects it is seeking nuclear weapons.

'One bomb' possible

A report issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) two weeks ago said Tehran had built up a stockpile of fissile nuclear material.

They're not close to a stockpile. They're not close to a weapon at this point
US Defense Secretary Robert Gates

This raised concerns in the West that Iran might have understated by one-third how much uranium it has enriched.

The IAEA report showed a major increase in Iran's reported stockpile of low-enriched uranium (LEU) since November to 1,010 kg.

Some physicists believe this stockpile is enough to be converted into enough highly enriched uranium to build one bomb.

The amount "is sufficient for a nuclear weapons breakout capability", David Albright, president of the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security, told AFP news agency.

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates has adopted a more cautious approach.

"I think that there has been a continuing focus on how do you get the Iranians to walk away from a nuclear weapons programme? They're not close to a stockpile. They're not close to a weapon at this point," he told NBC on Sunday.

President Barack Obama has stated he wants to engage in diplomacy with Tehran to ensure it does not build nuclear weapons, and has described the country's nuclear programme as an "urgent problem" the international community must confront.

Did they not learn from their Iraq blunder!!!!

I still don't trust that clown of a president. ... all the nuclear stuff aside... he is enough of a crazy loon to cause trouble by himself. You don't need the US to tell you that... Read it on Al Jazeera if you want.

You guys need to remember that the "EAST" as it is - is after America, we talking Taliban etc.

Maybe it's BS that Iran doesn't have a bomb, and even if they did, why would they build it, who would they use it against.

America is under threat all the time by terrorists, so they have to follow all leads, imagine if they didn't, we could have another 9/11, but probably 100x worse.

Bush might have been an idiot, but Barack has to deal with the same stuff.

Hope and change Killa, hope and change.

Remember Zuma will also help fight corruption in government

Some more attacks followed ordered by Bush :eek:

Missiles said to have been fired by US unmanned aircraft have killed seven people close to Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, Pakistani sources say.

When asked about the attack, Adm Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he would not talk about the specifics of US operations.

But, speaking to Fox News, he added that the military overall was "carrying out guidance from [US] President [Barack] Obama" in the region.

The US and Pakistan have had serious disagreements over the Afghan border zone, with Washington unhappy at Pakistani efforts to tackle militants and Islamabad condemning the US drone attacks.

Pakistani leaders had expressed hope that the new US administration would halt the controversial air strikes, saying they fuelled public anger and complicated Pakistan's own counter-insurgency efforts.

But the drone attacks have continued since Mr Obama was inaugurated as US president in January.

I am not so sure that the taliban where out to get the US until it got involved in stuff it does not need to be involved with, granted US entering world war 2 was a blessing but they did not need to get involved in much after that.

War stimulates the American Economy so it is in their interest to keep causing kuk with countries.

The Iranian president once said that he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth and he also doesn't believe that the holocaust happened, so the reason why Iran is building a bomb, if indeed they are building a bomb, is to bomb and take out Israel.

ROFL

If it wasn't for the U.S Europe would have gone communist. They pumped in huge amount of their own money for Europe re-emerge after the Europeans themselves had destroyed the place.

As for "stimulates the American Economy" that must be the pills talking :D

Of course they have these weapons, just like Sadam Husein had tons of weapons of mass destruction, remember.

Also of course it's bad that Iran have weapons to defend and deter attacks on their country (their recourses might be needed one day) especially since the US (mainly) armed Israel with nukes.

The United States are the biggest bunch of hypocrites you can find. They possible have more of these weapons than anyone else, happily give them to their "allies" and are the only nation to have ever used them to attack another (cowards) yet they have a fit when someone else wants weapons.

yip. How has the U.S got a return on the billions spent on Iraq?

Perhaps you should search for (american) companies which have been contracted for work in Iraq for insane amounts of money. Many of the tenders were fishy to say the least.

Let's destroy someone's government and infrastructure then be the hero, oil for food anyone?

Also the US has quite contently watched that part of the world go through conflicts until they start setting oil wells on fire, only then suddenly going in to help people.

Yea i remember the amount of WMD they found in Iraq, it was staggering to see how many they found, i think even the whole world was amazed and in dis-belief when they found them. Saddam was ready to launch those puppies, imagine if saddam had been able to launch that stockpile how many continents he could have destroy.

Saddam was ready to do it as well, just as the US has amazing intelligence and never lied about him having them or they would have looked really really stupid.

Yeah rather they had killed 10 times as many Japs and millions of their own by invading Japan

Boohoo megalomaniac fanatics can't have nukes. Cry me a river. Hell let Zuma have nukes. A free for all . Why stop there. Letrs do the same thing with guns. If you want them you can have them. Who cares if somebody is psycho child killer. It would be hypocritical to deny them and not others
