Since there are only bad things going around about telkom these days i thought i might share my positive experience....

2 weeks ago i applied for ADSL using the 10219 number, i spoke to a very friendly person who processed all my details and made my application experience a very pleasent and helpful one, the person said they would phone me the next week to finalise an installation date, naturally i was skeptical about whether he would actually phone me or not but i decided to wait till the next week....

Next week came i and waited until about 1pm on the day he was supposed to phone and getting a bit worried i jumped to conclusions, about an hour later i recieved the call and was pretty knocked back by the fact that i actually got it, we discussed an installation date and it was set for 2 days later. I opted for the self install option and i was told that was fine, I asked all the questions about the 1st november and such and such and i recieved very honest and understandable answers.

The date for installation (techies goes to exchange and organises ports and stuff) came and as a usual telkom customer i didnt expect it to happen, but alas at about 11am i got a call saying it was all in order and i could connect my modem and add filters and all should be well, i say thank you (at this point i am flabergasted because it has only taken a week and a bit to get everything sorted and allocated when i heard it takes up to a month!) so i go home, connect my modem, activate the line and everything is sorted, if that isnt enough i get a call the next day to ask if everything went okay!!! WOW!

I am very impressed with the way the whole installation was handled and i want to congratulate Telkom on a job well done......they got one step closer to making me a telkom supporter....now only if they were as good with their capping.....hmmmm

Anyway, i hope this is sort of a turn around for telkom, may alot of you have the same great experience.....

The fact that an installation which is carried out "as advertised" is regarded as a significant positive experience speaks volumes about Telkom's service levels...

No good can come from complimenting Telkom. I pray for the day the SNO arrives and kicks these monopoly sons of bitches in their heads.

Please don't flame me for my reply. I'm just a really pissed off customer who really really doesn't like Telkom at this moment..

Hi Specter

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have heard from many quarters (including from Papi himself) that Telkom is serious about their new customer centric approach. I do not think this specific experience is a consequence of this new approach, but I am hopeful that we will see a few more positive posts about Telkom.

Having said this, the hard capping issue is not doing Telkom’s image any good. I have advised both Papi and Lulu to reconsider this move, but I doubt that they will. Maybe they come up with something different to accommodate consumers though…there is always hope :D

Regards,

RPM

5 days to go and i'm starting to worry.. i hope something positive happens :(

come on telkom!

If Telkom people wanted to do something about the hard cap they could have done it or at least freese the action until they will came up with strategy.
They whole meeting with MYADSL was in order to show that they are listening to the public and in order to keep the comunity quite .
What interest me is woh many marketing people from Telkom are advertising on this forum the good service of Telkom.
