Hi Guys,

Just need your thoughts on this.

I drive an A class that is less than one week old. Yesterday some idiot in a polo thought it would be smart to try and overtake me in the yellow line on the highway, he lost control in the rain and smashed into my rear bumper. Do you think I might be dealing with a bent unibody chassis ?

Not sure its even possible to tell from pics like this.

Ouch tho...kak getting new stuff broken :( .
Hope you get this resolved.

Minor damage but the parts will be replaced.
Did you get the idiots details? Hopefully you can recover your excess if you did.

Yeah I got his details. A few other motorists stopped and told me the guy almost bumped into them because he was speeding in and out of lanes

Firstly, report it to the police to get a case.
Secondly, phone your insurance to sort it out.

Looks like cosmetic damage on the bumper only. The tail light has shifted slightly, just check the is no damage to the screw clips or cracks in the housing etc if it's fine sit should be able to be adjusted to the correct position. The c pillar looks untouched. So in all likely hood it looks like the bumper skin will only need replacing.

Sorry man. People think they are invisible on the road, he's lucky he crashed into you, it could have been into a concrete pole on the side of the road.

No offense but what does it matter? Yes it sucks but that's why you pay insurance, hopefully you will get your excess back and the insurer should put you in the same position you were before the accident.
