Onedrive folders issue

So I royally cocked up. I backed up all my photos to onedrive, then did a fresh install of windows on my pc. Once onedrive finished syncing back after the install was complete I deleted the windows.old folder. I now go and look at the synced folders and a whole bunch of them are empty, so the folder is there, but no photos. Can’t see the photos if I look online either. Anyone have any remote hope of how I could fix this?

I can only suspect the folders hadn’t synced properly before I did the fresh install. So annoyed. 2 years worth of family photos gone.

I've done innumberable new/clean intalls and never had a file affected on OneDrive. Check in the deleted items folder in the online version of OneDrive, ie log into OneDrive via your browser.

Only way it would have been not shown is if it was not uploaded... Have a look on the website on the in the folders and then on the left "photos" it may be hidden in the folders somewhere

Yeh, it never happened to me as well and it never will, I simply don't use it.

If it's not on the Web View it's not there.

But check the Recycle Bin just in case.

Now switch to Google Photos and never cry again.

If the files aren't in the Deleted online folder then they were never uploaded/synced online. If they were, anything deleted either locally or online is placed in Deleted and always recoverable.

Always make a local copy (external hard-drive) for whatever you backup online.

Or just make sure it's online properly.

I haven't made a local copy of anything photo or video related since Google Photos launched.

No need to.

Same goes for iCloud if you feel like paying for it.

That being said the Cloud is not a backup. It's a storage device.

Yeah so I think it just doesn't sync properly to start with since it's not in deleted items or online in one drive

Oh dear. :(. That's a real bummer. It obviously never synced before so it never was on OneDrive to start with.

Yeah this is my suspicion. What's weird is all the folder names are there, but most of them are empty. Then like an idiot I shift deleted the windows.old folder which only magnified the issue. Ugh

Bugs in soft. It shouldn't show folder names.

Duplicate Documents Folder

:confused:I have somehow ended up with two sets of documents folders. Documents and Documents (2).
They basically contain the same stuff. Can I safely copy Documents (2) to Documents?
I will back up both to an ext HDD before doing this.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
