OnePlus 5 gets facial recognition

Facial recognition on the OnePlus 5 works similarly to Face ID on the iPhone X, and can be activated by a quick tap of the power button.
No it doesn't. The Iphone X also uses infrared whereas the Oneplus only use the front camera. Android had face unlock circa 2011 so most Android phones already come with the feature.

You're correct that Face Unlock isn't nearly as secure as Face ID, to the extent that it doesn't substitute fingerprint authorisation. But it's much better than what anyone else - even Apple - is offering. It's fast as lightning. Watch a review of the 5T to see it in action.

I read somewhere that Samsung could be bypassed with a photo. How?

Even my old S3 required a blink

What does that mean for the end user? Accuracy?

So as an owner of the 5T I can honestly say that Apple f**ed up with the "fancy" face unlock camera tricks on the iPhone X.
You still have fingerprint authentication for banking apps etc. on the 5/5T but the implementation of the Face unlock feature on the OnePlus devices is mind blowing.
Basically, only other people realize I have a lock on my phone and I'm still getting used to the idea of not having to use the fingerprint sensor on the back....also, you can't use a photo to unlock it but I have been able to do it in a mirror (which reminds me, I have to test that again after getting an update last week).

In short, no security measure is foolproof but the 5T face unlock is the perfect example of something that's good enough. I'll never buy a phone again without face unlock as implemented on the 5/5T.
