Oneplus, for me, is the most exciting up and coming brand, although these days they're more of an established brand than an up and coming one. Their next flagship is probably around 2-3 months away from launching. Let's discuss it here....

Hopefully it won't have a notch.

We already know what it will look like - the Oppo R17. It will have a tiny notch not much bigger than the front-facing camera.

LOL i hate phone release cycles, not even 6 months and the OP6 is outdated, same as every brand i guess :) Not that the OP6 will be bad...

I am a big fan of the Teardrop notch, it looks sooo much better and yeah, we can pretty much guarantee it will have this , especially since all the Chinese makers are going this route, oppo, huawei (TBC), vivo.

I wonder what they'll actually improve over the OP6, ok bigger screen to body %... maybe the camera, what else is there?

There's some speculation that the 6T will be the first phone featuring snapdragon 855.

In display finger print reader is another rumor.

5g and triple camera setup.

OnePlus would die without the 6-month cycle. Other brands take a dip in sales every year towards the end of product cycles, but OnePlus keeps things moving relentlessly with frequent hardware updates. It gives them huge press coverage which takes the strain off their need to advertise and helps them negotiate component prices, as they're always in the market for the latest thing.

The teardrop notch would be a good move not just because it looks great but because it wouldn't alienate OP6 owners too much. The OP5 -> OP5T jump did OnePlus no favours, so they'll likely hope to avoid big jumps in the same year going forward.

The 845 is already a beast so doesn't really matter to me. Would be good for publicity I guess. All the existing in-display fingerprint readers I've seen are slow and crap, so unless that tech has suddenly jumped I hope they steer clear. If they're going triple lens it better be for good reason. The Pixel phones have shown what a load of nonsense lens count is when it comes to mobile photography.

OP6 outdated? What planet are you living on?

It will have a big notch and no in display finger print reader.. Soo out dated. If a new model is released to replace an old model, the old model is out dated.

I'll be upgrading my 3T to the 6T once launched, and it seems the upgrade between the 6 and 6T is quite large;

Well it's a massive upgrade from the 3T, that's for sure... From the 6, mmmmmm, significant design changes with the in screen fingerprint reader and tear drop notch. I also love how the earpiece is incorporated into the bezel. Will be interesting to see how responsive that fingerprint reader will be.

Think I'm going to hold out for the 7 this time round. I went 3T/5/5T/6 so really overdoing my upgrade cycle. Just can't help myself. Love the brand SOOOO MUCH!!

Love the customisation options of OnePlus and their open ethos to the modding community. Just that alone is why I'll stick with them.

Would be great if they were officially supported in SA.

Will the 6T have dual firing speakers?
Apparently the earpiece on the Oppo acts as a 2nd speaker but not very loud and quite underwhelming. We might see a similar implementation on the 6T.

I stand under correction though...

There might be 2 bottom firing speakers...

Eish....

One fewer: the OnePlus 6T will not have a headphone jack, Carl Pei confirms
Peter

“Never settle” sounds like a permanent promise, but things change. The OnePlus 6T will not have a 3.5mm headphone jack, says co-founder Carl Pei. And the company just unveiled a pair of affordable USB-C headphones.

“Making a great phone doesn't mean putting every component available into the device,” says Pei. A survey by the company revealed that more than half of OnePlus owners used wireless headphones. And it’s an old survey, predating the launch of OnePlus’ own Bullets Wireless headphones.

The volume that was freed up by the 3.5mm jack would be use to fit new tech. Pei hints at improved battery life and other add-ons, but did not give away any details.

The OnePlus 6T retail box will include a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, so you can continue using your current set of headphones if you don't mind the dongle life.

As for the new headphones, they are a version of the Bullets V2 that end with a USB-C plug instead of a 3.5mm jack. The price will remain unchanged – $20/€20 – even though the headphones now have a built-in Cirrus Logic DAC.
