Broke up two weeks ago because of stuff like this. Girlfriend went digging around on my FB account when I wasn't home.
oops. Stupid SocialMe flriting app ... stupid me. haha!
I don't agree that Facebook or whatever flirting is the same as real life flirting. Of course, it depend on the details. I don't see how flirting with people on the other side of the globe is the same as the real thing, it's when you try to find someone close to you that you can actually meet where the waters get too murky.
On these social networking sites it just doesn't feel that "real", it sometimes has more to do with the persons need for a self esteem boost than anything else. Of course, trying to explain that to someone is damn near impossible. Lesson #1, don't go digging in my stuff and try to reconcile what you find there with the actual person you've known for years. Some of us are perfectly capable of being different people in different social and/or virtual settings without carrying it through to our real social interactions, you know, the ones we care about the most. I also find that people who've been into social networking for years and years (from the good 'ol days of IRC etc.) are great at creating alternate online personas. In fact, I think it's cool, makes life a bit more interesting than just having RaptorSA at work, and RaptorSA at home.
