Guys,

is there a site where i can upload a pic and it converts it to a HDR "Look" pic? ie: without me downloading any software etc,

Why don't you get a HDR and tone mapping program like Photo Matrix ....HDR is awesome

Until they manage to increase the dynamic range of sensors to match that of the human eye I can't think of a better way to make photography closer to ensuring wysiwyg. The heavily processed look is usually a bit too artsy fartsy for my tastes (but then so is most landscape and abstract photography. :))

Funny enough I recently shot a series of houses (interiors mostly) in HDR and the people who commissioned it loved it.

How many bracketed exposures can the big cams do at once?

The Key to HDR os not to go overboard - i am not a fan of it - but it can be useful as long as you don't make it look like embossed plastic which is what most folks do - or at leats the stuff that gets published online.

Mine does 7 but I think some of the nikons may do 9.

That is correct yes. The D300s and D700 can do 9.

I think the secret to HDR is to not be able to tell that HDR was used on the shot. It was developed to compensate for the limited dynamic range of digital sensors and when overused (which it is so often) it just looks unrealistic. Manual exposure blending works really well for shots that are nicely partitioned (such as landscapes) and personally I prefer that over tone mapping apps.

Here's one of the aforementioned I did recently with Photomatix. Now thinking about having to upload the 7 20mb+ psd files to an online HDR generator when I can download Photomatix (3.5mb) makes me wonder why someone would even bother.

I think he actually just wanted to achieve the HDR effect (ie, plastic/embossed) from 1 shot instead of 'true' HDR. That is a nice shot btw - from the small version I cannot see any HDR artifacts :)

I think both images are nice, just different effects and it comes down to personal taste at the end of the day...
Was it for a client? If so which did he/she choose?

I only did that second one now, and against my better judgement.
