I don't know if it's just me, but when I go to the MTN site to read an MMS i received, the server where the MMS is retrieved from always times out. Firstly, I'm not too sure why I get a "You have received an MMS. Go to www.mtn.co.za/mms with unique code XXXXXX to read the MMS" message - usually it gets downloaded onto my phone directly - it's from a Cell C user if that makes any difference.

In any case I head over to http://www.mtn.co.za/default.aspx?pid=6492 and login, and enter the unique code for the MMS, which brings up a page with an iframe whose source is

http://196.11.240.100/mmbox/otpLogin.jsp?msisdn={my_cell_number}&msgid={unique_code_for_mms}

Now, I can't even access the http://196.11.240.100/ server on it's own, let alone the MMS. It just timesout after a while. I tried entering that url directly in my phone thinking that maybe an MTN connection would have better luck than ADSL - but not the case.

Surely the MMS system is used often enough (I don't use it much at all) for other people to report issues and for MTN to be aware of issues?

Anyone have any luck accessing the MTN MMS server?

BTW I can ping 196.11.240.100 server fine, just seems the web app times out...

Always had that problem. I usually get the mms-er to send the mms as high-priority, which usually solves the problem, and sends the mms directly to my phone.

Yes, MTN MMS is really buggered up.

What I get is when I try to send a video clip via MMS-Email (mms to an email address) and then it gets a nonsense "handset not supported message".

It was like that last month and then it fixed itself for 2 weeks, only to return again.

Whats up MTN?
