I have started an online news website,I am looking for some information on online publishing relevent to SA. I am looking mainly at some legal aspects of running the site,do I need to be part of a publishing association?

I can't answer your main question but I think your main problem is going to make sure that whatever "legal aspects" you tackle, you better make sure your facts are 100% or you going to get flamed!
