Hi everyone,

So I've done alot of reading but its always good to get opinions of people who have first hand knowledge & experience on the matter of general & cyber security. I am aware of the paid & free benefits but as a start off what would one recommend?

So here is 3 questions

- What free malware software do yourll use (or recommend to run) alongside a full antivirus package?

(I know of malwarebytes is a good option, is there anything else better from experience?)

- Also what free VPN would one suggest that doesn't collect user data or leaks info & is stable from your experience?

(I know paid is a better, safer option, but it's still good to know if a free one who protects completely exists)

- Lastly what privacy extensions do yourll use for your browsers be it chrome, Firefox, etc? Any secure VPN extensions yourll use with the browser?

If there is something I missed & if anyone wants to add on, please feel free provide advise as this knowledge will benefit many

Thanks

Yo,

I can't help with freeware as I have a paid Malwarebytes Business license and don't have a need for VPN at this point. Most people don't really NEED a VPN.

But, I can say is that everyone should, at a bare minimum, be using Privacy Badger on Firefox and Chrome - if they not using Brave Browser. Brave is made by the father of Javascript. I would definitely use Firefox over Chrome as well.

Privacy Badger sends the Do Not Track signal (https://www.eff.org/issues/do-not-track) with your browsing. If trackers ignore your wishes, your Badger will learn to block them. Privacy Badger starts blocking once it sees the same tracker on three different websites.

Besides automatic tracker blocking, Privacy Badger removes outgoing link click tracking on Facebook, Google and Twitter, with more privacy protections on the way.

If you are really concerned about privacy and tracking, and using a Google account on your devices/Chrome, you should go into all the settings and disable all location, search, viewing, etc. histories. Just be warned that your Google Assistant won't work or be as accurate anymore. It's scary what they actually store about you. Facebook is even worse!
