Online schooling

Teneo, in my opinion, by far.

There is no "best". It is entirely up to how your child works with each offering.

All I can say, is do not go with Impaq! Worse than Telkom in We are using Think Digital this year - yet to start though.

But again, TD and Teneo are two different types of schools.

Impaq, last year did not offer online schooling. You had to find tutors elsewhere or those they recommend.

Teneo was excellent throughout the year with their online classes. Started around 7:40 in the morning and kids had normal classes until around 14:00 every day. Closer to examination times, many teachers offered extra classes at night, at no additional costs, like maths, etc.

Impaq! Still around!!! Wow! How the heck did they survive the last decades as the worst homeschool learning in South Africa.

How are they the worst? I wanted to enroll my sister this year. Which would be the best (and also cheap) distance learning? Budget is around R16k max. Can't go over that as I have my own studies to pay and I get paid dirt at the moment. She is in grade 10.

Lol.Why is this under hosting and cloud computing @OP?

I don't know now. Just remember when I did some homeschooling as a kid they used to be the worst when discussed among the homeschoolers.

2005. I must have been in grade R. Clonard was the best at that time. Not sure how the curriculum is now. They are more expensive that's why I was looking at Impaq.
I can't remember what we used back then. It has a strange name, that's all I remember, lol. Things must have changed a lot since then with probably also a lot more government regulation.

lol. My son completed Grade 3 through them last year. No teacher or "cottage" or "tutor center" was used.

Again, it is entirely dependant on how your child learns. You do not need a single teacher to teach you. All the tutor centers are, is exactly that...tutors. If your child is capable of sitting with the material in front of them and learning it themselves, you save thousands. If they need someone to teach them, different story.

The bar they set is very low. We yanked our kid after a couple terms.

Anyone using this site? https://za.ixl.com/ I am going to try out for a month, about 190 rands for Grade R.
Yoh - how is this possible. ixl site says 13 million students and had a look at unofficial reviews.

Have enrolled for a month and son is enjoying it. Grade R.

Please - can anyone who has a child in Grade R confirm if this ties up with what your child (in Grade R) knows/in the process of knowing? Just a glance should sort out I think.

Official government site for CAPS curriculum times out but trying there as well.

My son has been learning through Think Digital for the past two to three years doing the Cambridge curriculum. You need to pay a lot of attention to what is going on, you can't really leave your child to 'get on' with it. We have found questions in the exams / tests that weren't covered in the curriculum. One epic occasion the question was plagiarised from the internet and totally out of context, so there was no way he could have answered it correctly.
