Onlinecoffeeshop any good?

Good day everyone!

I hope you are all well and keeping safe.

I am in the market for a espresso setup, and onlinecoffeeshop.co.za are the only ones that stock the Lelit MaraX with a grinder for a decent price, so want to get from them.

I am however suspicious of them. There website has a pop up on the bottom left telling you what people have bought, and I always hit the back button on sites that do that, it comes across as dodgy to me. I as well looked them up on hello Peter and again all the reviews seemed a bit funny…most people’s reviews are 5 star and it’s there first and only review on the platform….seems sketchy to me. There is as well a guy on there who said he saw them well mentioned on lots of other sites…what other sites? I can’t find them mentioned anywhere else on the internet.

I might sound a bit cautious, but we all know how many scams there are, especially in SA. So I just want to find out if anyone here has used them and if they legit…and if so, what was your experience like with them.

Bought my machines from them, legit. Rolando provides good service
 
They're legit! Bought my machine and grinder from them. Great service and gave really good advice as well when I was still considering what to get.

After seeing all your comments, I gave them a call and Rolando was super helpful, he really helped me out. My new machine, grinder and accessories are on their way! Super excited to get started!

Enjoy it, having the prosumer coffee goodies makes this a whole world of fun, now pls source great beans!

Just pre-ordered/back-ordered my Lelit Mara X, very excited. they are legit from the research I’ve done

One day I would like to get a nice machine as well. But will have to wait for now. Maybe I can do it the same time I get my retirement house in the Midlands at age 35.....

** The breville is actually not a bad machine, much better that the Delonghi Dedica.

*** The Lelit is not an upgrade, it is a giant leap into coffeekind.

Awesome! That’s the machine I got from them. I got the bundle with the Eureka Grinder, best purchase ever! Fantastic machines, you’ll love it!

@zs-kev find it easy to dial in? You make any changes or upgrades/additional features/tools to your machine?

@RedViking I’ve got a comandante c40 mk3. What’s your next machine? Or is your Breville serving you well?

Breville serves the budget. But I push it to its limits. Next machine definitely a prosumer and if finances are tight but still not too bad something in the 10-20K range.

At first it’s a challenge, but I mean what isn’t at first. If you know your tastes, then you might find it easier as you know what you are aiming for, if not, then it’ll be a struggle. If you are not sure, I would highly suggest going on a home barista course. If you are in Gauteng, I would highly recommend BeanThere’s Home Barista Course, after that my coffee just improved so much as I then knew what great coffee should taste like.

In terms of accessories, I haven’t gotten anything for my machine or grinder, still using everything it came with. I would recommend a coffee distributor, at first I didn’t think it made a difference, but then after seeing the difference on the course, I got myself one and it definitely does make a slight difference that I feel is worth. One other accessory I guess would be a good scale. I was going to get a coffee one, but I went to a shop in Parkhurst that deals with Diamond shops and whatnot, and I got a scale that is accurate to 0.01g for around R1100 I think it was. I as well then got a silicon mat from Leroy Merlin to put on the scale as scales don’t like heat.

That’s it.

Scale, coffee distributor and naked Porta filter were also the only things I added to my setup
