only sound in vlc player

when I watch a video on you tube, their is no sound. Only after I download it, can I hear it.
Its win7. Any advice please.

re-install flash player or upgrade to chrome

Check the sound mixer when on youtube to make sure the browser hasn't been muted. Win 7 allows per-program muting.

The browser player has a little speaker on the bottom left. If you click on it you can mute/unmute. What I didn't realise is that if you hover over it, it brings up a volume control as well.
