I have 2GB dongle from Cellc that I occasionally use on my grandfathers farm. There is 3G tower on the hill pumping 13Mbps download and 2.8Mbps upload so that is basically the only place I can use it. Its pretty much useless in town at my house so I take it with me when visiting the farm.
I updated the grandfathers laptop and used it for a youtube video or two. I continuously check my usage and believed to still be in bundle.
I only noticed today that I went 170mb over and now have about R170 extra on my bill. I'm kinda shocked because I get 3GB nite data and the *101# menu and the check balance option on the Cellc dashboard does not distinguish this data from the 2GB any time data. Its Data Available and it would show the total data including the nite data so it can be VERY misleading.
I feel cheated but even more so that Cellc actually hiked the OOB data price to R0.99 even on the data contracts. When the consultant phoned me in 2012 they actually boasted that its 15c a meg out of bundle and puts them ahead of the competition. I know that Cellc hiked the OOB for prepaid and ad hoc bundles I did not know that they will change the OOB rate for my data contract too. I was sold the contract with that as a feature so I did not expect it to be changed?
Cellc is just as bad as the rest.
There is NO way to distinguish from the *101# menu what is any time data or nite data. Its a combined value. You need to log into cellc.co.za and click a couple of links which is not always instant like the *101# menu.
The R0.99 OOB rate on data contract you sold as a 15c a meg OOB rate is not fair at all. I would have bought extra data or swapped to a prepaid sim. R170 for 170mb. I never got caught by the OOB shark before but I never though it would happen on Cellc.
Thank God I pulled the modem from the Laptop when I saw the 'Current Usage' go up on the *101# menu or the damage could have been far worse. If I check now it still says Data Available: 3072MB but that is nite data and ant data will get added to the bill @ R0.99 per mb. They really need to fix this.
