So halfway through Jan, my internet is cut off, I'm on the 2GB for 189pm.

I phone the lovely people at MTN and they tell me they cut off my internet due to high usage, I must pay them something like R2400.00

So OOB rates for this contract is 0.30 cents / MB that works out to more than 10GB including the usual 2GB. I don't see how this is possible.

Now I know I have limited bandwidth on this contract so I don't download stuff, I don't YouTube, I play the odd online games here and there but if my games need any updates I take my laptop to a friends house and use their ADSL.

I'm pretty pissed off.

Is there any chance that this could be a mistake on MTNs side?

Did you leave your windows updates on or do you have any torrent programs.
Even if you don't download with the program it still uploads on it's own.
I can burn through 3gig in less than a hour.

Edit:I think it's mtn's fault because they only should give you a extra 2-3 gig when you go over.I smell a scam.

Thank the heavens that didn't happen on vodacom cause you'd be paying over 10, 000 for that 10gig

I'm pretty technologically savvy, so no updates, torrents etc.
