OK, I was using MDMA and typing in the USSD codes to buy more data on my prepaid MTN SIM. I hit a 7 not a 6, and ended up with 2000 SMSs not 2GB data.

Yes, it was a bit careless. But the MTN store say they can't do anything, I must just kiss that money goodbye. It is a card in my 3G modem, and no way do I have any use for 2000 SMSs.

Why can't I reverse the transaction, even if I lose an amount for "administration"? I didn't use the phone based system because the voicemail system is so full of RICA messages, detailed explanations and prompts "This will deduct xxx from your airtime. Are you SURE you want to purchase a bolt-on data bundle". But if I make a typing mistake there is no recourse?

Come on guys! I had to fight for ages to cancel a separate data contract that I stopped using years ago. After complaining on Hello Peter I managed to get a full refund this year. They are wasting the good will that was generated. I certainly won't buy any more data from MTN.

I once timed how long the MTN voice prompt system made me wait before I could reload prepaid data - 6 minutes! I don't have the time. 'Nuff said..

Good luck! 2k smss is useless on a data card!

It took me 2 minutes yesterday though? I just pressed 1 for awhile, until I heard that it was loaded. The sms saying I had bought data came through this morning only though, about 12h later

Hey if you send 60 sms per day for a month to all those friends in your addressbook whom you have not spoken with, u should be able to use it up!

@mike.. I wish I could manage two minutes! I still need to RICA and get this endless flow of information I don't need. Maybe you have RICA'd so they don't favour you with that drivel.
