Opel Astra 2001 model coolant light

Nice. I was also planning on holding off on the Astra sale for a while but with the increasing issues and the fact that my wife drives it during the week for safety reasons I think I will ditch it in December for the Balade. A bit earlier than I wanted to buy but it will work. One of the main selling points of the balade is its boot. We do roadtrip holidays with two kids so the extra packing space is awesome!

Those are pretty much my exact same reasons for selling my Astra. :)

My wife drives it all week and weekends I use it to go to MTB events. With our daughter turning 1 tomorrow we will probably need even more luggage space when we go on trips so the Astra will become cramped. While its not giving me hassle I'll keep it but I do know that once things start to go wrong on these cars it can end up in a downward spiral. Needless to say my wife will not want to drive it should it breakdown on her and leave her stranded next to the road.

Opel Astra coolant warning light

Astra's are particularly bad at false warning lights. My Astra shows the ABS light yet he ABS is fine and a mechanic has confirmed this. It also showed the engine light regularly and the cause was the emissions sensor that apparently is a part that fails often in Opel's.

This coolant warning light disappeared for almost two months. It now only comes on when I turn my air conditioner or heater on. When the air con or heater is off it doesn't appear. What might be the cause of this?

Not sure but I would recommend googling the issue and looking on the Vauxhaul forums. I found some really good info there on some of my false warnings.

Yep, most of the helpful advice you will find on Vauxhall forums, there are plenty of Mk4 Astra info on those.

I still thing your coolant sensor is dodgy, or its wiring, because the behaviour you describe is quiet erratic.

I have an astra G 1.8cse,i changed radiator tht was leaking,i put in a good 2nd hand myself...as i finished everything, switched the car on,my coolant light went on,both fans kicks in and damn they make hell of a noise...when ignition is on they both kicks in and stays on,soo far i unplugged the ac fan which mkes most of the noise...at times radiator fan dont kick at all wch gt me stressin soo unless i switch car off and on again in seconds then it kicks in ....a local diagnostic showed code error p1540 ,to do with A/c high pressure...could this be a wrong code and possibly be th module tht is not working properly....temp guage is perfectly wrking ???
