Opel Astra Cooling System Problem

Hello guys my Astra 1.6 16v developed this problem of high pressure in a water pipe to the extent that it balloons and it is so scary guys please advise what could be a problem?

Is it overheating? Sounds like a failed thermostat.
 
What can happen if I take it off and run without it? Please advise guys

Do it and see, it is summer now so no big deal, in winter your heater won't be hot and the car will take ages before it reaches operating temperature and if you drive short distances your engine life will be shortened.
It is not expensive though why not replace it?
