Hi guys,
I have Opel Astra 1.6 CDE 2001 model.
It had some clicking noise inside the engine next to cambelt I was told is Cambelt tensioner and it was replaced but the problem was not solved.

I booked at GM, when I was on my way to, about 100Kms I had that the noise is no longer clicking but it was on going, Immediatley when I check the temperature i find that it was one minut no get in Red I stop the car immediately, when I try to start again it just turn the starter but never started.

I opened the engine hood and find that there was water under the engine and inside the container it was boiling at half.

It seems as the water was commimng under where there is cam belt.

Now the car is no longer starting.

Can any one help me with what it might be and how can i solve the problem?

Does the noise go away when the car is warm

Definately sounds like waterpump, however, the fact that the car is no longer starting tells me that there are other issues. Could be that the Waterpump ceased up and broke the cambelt, in which case you're in for a large bill.

As I said last week :

Waterpump - I have the same engine and replaced my waterpump at the second cambelt service (150,000 km).

The O2 sensor on these models tend to go at about 120,000km and you will see that if you scan the ODB2 error list - your check engine light will also come on.

Another thing that you should replace at the same time along with the waterpump us the thermostat. It tends to get stuck on Open so your car never reaches normal operating temperature when you drive.

Mine has done 180,000+ km now and is still going strong - brilliant cars these

The cam belt was stil attached and not broken.

I left it at General Motors and they seem not to c what the problem is, they have only spoted the water pump.

They told me they have to open the engine.......................

Could there be anything damaged inside the engine?

But when I stoped ,It stil had water in it althou it was boiling and the fan was on.

then a local machanic is charging me R2500-00 to assemble it

IS THIS REASONABLE?
